It's 3 lenghts of Cat5 cable braided together, At the ends the color/white cables are twisted together to form the negative and the color cabels are the positive. There are many implementations of the Cat5 as a speaker cable here on the forum and elsewhere.

This sounds very interesting. I couldn't find the discussion, nor the original MLTL design though. Anyone care to post links?
