They are playing...and really really well, in fact I wasn t expecting them to be so good, they go deeper than my fhxl m10.2, are more punchy midbass, trebble is airy, and sound stage boys, well never heard one like this before, I have David Gilmour, the black strat and the whole band playing comfortably numb for me alone here in my living room like never before, and my m10.2 are allready playing the stars from the sky, but really these goes a step further, if I close my eyes, it s like I am touching the instruments, my scares from those being shouty and with no bass are far away...

Those fe168ns surprise me also, straight line they are a bit sharp and crispy in the 5 to 10k range but once 15deg off they are super spot on and deliver sweet but verry precise sound, so with the victors aligned parrallel and not toed in the sound is just super. The sound stage is hard to describe, I am playing all my live albums one after the other's and it s been like a rock festival in my house... 😁

Room placement is also crucial, like with most speakers, but here 5cm more or less from back wall and you go from boomy to flat sounding... I knew from all my fh that it was crucial but it is even more evident here... One more crazy thing, I have tested many many cables, speaker cables, rca cables, and power cables, for the speaker and rca cables the difference has been really important and relevant from one to another but I never really heard a difference with power cables, and just to be curious I tested 3 cables today for my power amp, pre and phono pre, and man it is hard to beleive how those speakers reveal the difference... Well i am completely astonished by this new set, no matter the waf, they will stay for a while...

'Preaching to the choir' 😉 as I was fortunate enough to experience both live vocals - large orchestra and similar recordings through large HIFI [mid] bass FL, BL horns in large, ~open rooms from quite young and the lower one goes to cut-off, the deeper/larger the apparent soundstage and within extremes, why no matter the room size will always recommend horns with the more the merrier up to the point of 'is it live or is it Memorex' 😉.

BLHs are much maligned thanks to a lot of otherwise intelligent and/or 'influential' folks somehow unable to either figure out, or in some cases intentionally mislead 🙁, how to invert its FLH alignment equivalent and worse, ignore the pioneer's work solely because it was pre T/S even though both use the exact same underlying physics!

Regardless, congrats! Glad to see a 'newbie' jump right in at the 'deep end' of the audio speaker 'pool'!

Hope more will follow now..........

Still can't go asleep, switching between my m10. 2 fhxl and the victor on same albums, and yes I confirm, even if I still can t beleive it, Victor's are a serious step up... Man, "the wall" on these sounds so fckng a m a z i n g... I have that helicopter just landed on my carpet, so much fun...

Silberry for the MAOPs so that you can do an equal footing comparison?

When you switch are you getting the levels the same. The Foatex is some 3-4dB more sensitive. Also, if you are ABing as in the picture, the FHXLs are going to be screwed up a bit from the sides of Victor.

They seem to have lost the tape… are they veneered too?

dave

Tape is gone... Veneered not yet 🙄, still not sure about
scheme... And yes of course I compare at same levels and with correct placement for each set, here both placed side by side for pict purpose... Will now have to take a look at silberry... Gonna have to love those builds... 3fhxl (2xm10.2, 1x11ms), 2fh3 (m7.2, p7.2hd) , 1 fhxs (ff85wk) , 1 marken trapezoid A11ms,1X adjust rearcduct now with A11ms, finally victor fe168ns,1st build started in December...

well that's an extra 30cm high...the Victor dimenssions are the limit imo for a living room, but once I will have my listening room , I will give it a try that's for sure...and probably a dual m10.2 fhxl too...
Next step is learning EnAbl...but I guess it's a bit risky to start with those sublim fe168ns...btw, could I send them somewhere to have them treated?and what's best speaker to start with? 10p?
