It's actually quite remarkable that noone educated in the Middle Age actually believed that the earth was flat. Flat earthers would have been laughing stock at any medieval university. It is only the prejudices of the XIXth century against that period that led to that myth being widely held today.
Goes to show how much a priori can color not only our understanding of the present but also lead us into error about well established historical facts.

Indeed. Thank you. I'll make sure to remember that for the next time
From what I've read of this thread, I find it all very creepy.
I'm off to the bar, I feel more comfortable in the company of fellow pliss artists.

Pyramids Of Glass Submerged In The Bermuda Triangle - Apparently Apparel
This is one flat earth type thing that makes me more interested. Pyramids under the sea. Very likely nonsense. However I have seen painting that rival modern artists of 30 000 years ago that make me think civilisation should have started far further back in time. Caves run out so you build a cave. Before you know it V8 engines. It seems possible a 200 000 year old human would be able to drive a car. It is even possible before that. 200 000 years is a long time to be doing nothing of note. One speculation I came up with is we might have started to talk 6000 years ago and to find ways to write it down. Perhaps that was a real change. I think Herodotus said no one knows who made the Sphinx.
A sad thing is people say glass pyramids. No need to say that. Pyramids is enough. I saw the so called film and thought they looked glass like for want of a better way to say it. Who is to say if this is another bit of silly people trying out the public. I have a hunch it isn't. I will keep an open mind on this one. There are other locations if wanting to read more. I gave up as I have no way to go there.
A very silly joke I heard which is related. " Don't watch the film Titanic in reverse, it is even sadder. You see the ship reborn from the deep only to end up in Belfast". Truely sorry for that, couldn't resist.

I heard from somewhere (probably here) that mostly women drew the first cave paintings and not men. Makes you wonder really. Was it because men had little time on their hands or was it because women were more creative? No one will know for sure I bet but I'm betting on the men having very little time.

I don't think so, never seen any cave paintings of babies.
I wonder that far back whether the gender roles had been invented
All available evidence points to the fact that gender roles existed as long as humans. Early humans were hunter/gatherers and invariably men did the hunting and women did the gathering.
This has been going on long enough to leave evolutionary traces like the fact that women have better colour vision which is important when gathering fruit while men have a better perception of movement and spatial vision.
It makes sense since neither hunting nor gathering alone would have been sufficient to feed a family over time and both were totally dependent on each other.
Things started to go wrong for women when agriculture drastically reduced the importance of gathering for human survival.
Every H/G society ever discovered and studied showed remarkably equal status between males and females and strong pair bonding. Subsequent agricultural societies are usually marked out with greatly increased status for men, equally diminished status of women and a tendency of men to have numerous wifes.
I am fairly strong and big. My girlfriend is from Birmingham ( i.e. tough ). When she says she will punch my lights out I tend to think she would. For all that I like in a fight she wouldn't run away ( and hasn't ). I can imagine back in time to survive all were like Colleen. The funny thing is she is a domestic godess, she even has a👎 UK A level in that ( and also French and English to paint a full picture, and then academic stuff ). She hates me doing domestic stuff, she knows I can. I sew things if she hasn't the time. I peg out the washing now she has shown me how ( mildly different to how I did it for 30 years ). You should see the linen cupboard. I'm the one who does plumbing and electrics etc. I am sure she is a feminist, it's never been mentioned. I wouldn't change one part of that.
I have been a farmer when young. I have named and eaten the named animals. As I was told " We are the best farm we can be and love them whilst here ". That's too close to the bone for her. No way can she eat a rabbit. She loves to eat lamb. If lamb I could understand, rabbits do nothing much for me. Women are complex and what real man hates that? Other than that she is more the man than me if she says so ( and has ). If we had to go back to the caves it would be me killing the food and she is first class with the pencil.

Meh I just don't care really. Sharing is caring.
And fair enough. But opinions and first hand experience are two different things. Go ahead and glorify weed but until you've been through what I've been through you wouldn't wish it on anybody even if the number of schizophrenics out there are only like 1% of the population those people will have a really bad life after trying pot even just once. And I was what you would call a completely normal person before trying it and my entire family has tried it before and had no ill effects, it was just me. there was no warning and no way of telling how it would've affected me beforehand.
Sorry for trying to warn people.
I've heard that said before. This time I understood better. I know a young lad who is very broken. I think you have made me understand better. I thought it was the other stuff he took. Maybe not. Some say the modern pot is genetically modified, could be.

I doubt there is genetically modified weed out there.
There is however a huge possibility of misunderstanding.
People who grow weed constantly talk about 'cloning' plants when the proper horticultural term would be 'taking cuttings'.
Happens a LOT since most of the improvements in cannabis (and many vegetables and flowers) are due to heterosis (hybrid vigour) which makes growing from cuttings preferable to for the illegal grower.
My friend Pipa was Alan Bond's typist in the days when it was called that. Pipa has the type of brain that is nothing like dyslexic. I am dyslexic and seem to remember any and every small detail of science I have done or took interest in. Pipa can remember every small thing that we might call English and not a thing that she typed for Alan. She treats me as a sad case. Alan Bond is still working on his space engine. One day it might take me to New Zealand in an hour. To go to Spain it would take longer as it must go once around the Earth if we bothered to do it. To be honest I don't care if it's all a lie, one hour is wonderful. If cheap enough winter would be my choice.
BTW. Dyslexic or not interested? Who is the unfortunate one?

GM Pot. If someone thought it worthwhile they might do it. Remember, this is not your usual food safety lab doing this. I doubt they would go to jail if caught if only growing a small amount for their own needs. It would only need to be a small amount. It's a bit like Invasion of the body snatchers except real. The other suggestion is selected breeding. That is a slower way to do much the same. People forget that selected breeding has gained much from GM. When the good guys they get to market quicker with the modern methods. BBC farming talks about this.
