Same drill as always: please post well lit pictures of your caps and all joints, also ensure pos and neg rail voltages are according to spec, and impedance to gnd is low, then greedy boyz will be able to help you.wrestling with typical Man's Flue
37.5C being worst for me, inventing all new Bull's Algebra, but with impossible factors; try with 0 positive, 0 negative and 0
Also: there is only one proper place to measure the correct body temperature

Manflu is for weaklingssezz. Real men harden up using Zardoz clothes in the winter

only weaklinsssesssssss are servicing Tannoys lesser than 15"
I've been out of the loop, but aren't the SIT/VFet devices no longer in production? My money is on SIT-4 (or maybe T1 - TOKIN1) … codename TONKIN
![]()
Or are the Tonkins still being made?
you can bet that majority of (known) world stash of those is now in PL Storage
Yes, yes, but that is just in preparation for servicing of bigger tractor wheels. Need to start small, and in proportion with feet size![]()

Axpona this weekend. Any greedy boy spies gonna be there, I wonder?
First Rule in ZMLand - if ZM didn't attend, it didn't happen'd

I see Axpona as 14-16 April. Or am I looking at wrong Axpona? https://axpona.com/register/
I'm not too far, it could be a fun bit of espionage...

If you come to AXPONA you will be able hear the Hill Type 1 Plasma tweeters at a show for the first time in 40 years. They will be paired with E.T.'s LFT-8b. You won't regret the experience.😉I see Axpona as 14-16 April. Or am I looking at wrong Axpona? https://axpona.com/register/

Further OT: Lost in Space is streaming on Amazon. It's so awful in most ways, but still mesmerizing. The Jupiter 2 and The Robot,The Time Machine, one of my favorites.

Woohoo!!
Great story presented on last BAF
great pleasure to see greened faces linked around entire world, while following presentation

This is also a plasma tweeter.
Plasma tweeter?? 🙂
How does it really sound? What is the actual bandwidth? What is the actual sensitivity db/w/m, and of that the following dynamic capacity?

vdi_nenna: "364 degrees C" is not hot at all. I wonder if the Lansche distributor got the number wrong. The Hill plasma is about 10,000 C. The distributor is correct about Ozone being destroyed by high temps though. These cross over at something like 1.5kHz(?), but how much output? The Lansche site states: "The music signal itself is modulated and causes all points within the volume of the ion field to be accelerated exactly in unison by changes in the electric field strength" which largely of correct.
JeyDee: The Hill Type 1 goes down to ~1kHz and can output about 110dB @ 1 meter, but distortion is more like a soft limit. The notion of a sensitivity (dB/W/m) as it might pertain to amplifier power doesn't work because the plasma is the load for the built-in class A amplifier stage - it receives both the "bias" power and the audio modulation. the amplifier input is driven directly by a electronic crossover.
Btw, the Hill Type 1 is not generating sound with modulated ions or electric fields - it does it by modulating the power and thus the air density at the very steep thermal gradient present at the plasma boundary layer .
How does it sound? Read the old reviews (e.g., Stereophile), or at http://hillplasmatronics.com/
Here is a photo - the distance from the top electrode to each bottom electrode is ~1 inch

F8.....
After all the fun and frustrations in solving the "riddle" ... as the F8 (and F7) is now discontinued we are looking for the answer placed upside down on the very last page 😊
The reactions could very well go from 😱😵 to 🥳🤓

You just have to use your decoder ring. Hopefully the secret message is something better than “drink more Ovaltine!”F8.....
