I also like 8" above 300Hz (for me in OB with an 18" below). Depending on implementation, volume needs and so on, 7" might struggle in large dynamics.

I had EMS LB8 and liked it a lot, but moved on since then. If you just want a widerange from 300Hz-7000Hz, I would cut the whizzer off. Or choose the LB7 without whizzer and compromise on the lowr end? Your choice, as always...

An interesting and not expensive alternative (no FC though...) might be the Satori MR16 widerange, well discussed here and elsewhere (disclaimer: I´m biased as I have a new pair for sale relatively cheap here:

Another interesting, but expensive alternative (no FC though...) might be the Fertin Acoustics 21WLA, which in my books is near perfect as a widerange (disclaimer: I´m biased as I´m distributing these drivers here
https://guentherengineering.com/21wla). These are available with a FC motor as well, but even more expensive and made to order.

But of course there are plenty of drivers around... what are your plans for bass and treble? Crossover? Room? Amp? Music? Budget?

Thank you kindly again Mattes. Yes agree & noted with regards to sensitivity. Re my experimental speakers, am going with XSD style OB as I much prefer a small foot print. Tweeter though have not implemented are good old Coral B3X with acoustic lens. Bass ACR pro audio are made locally of 8 inch with qts of 1 sounded very clear with a short test & with knowledge gain from playing with Neodymium Im sure can tweak & improve further. Bass per speaker will either be 6 or 8 per side. Have to hear how it sounds in my room. Very very cheap units though but good stuff. Btw they are also the company behind SB Acoustics. Lol. Yes XO frequency will be around 250 to 300 hz. Will prefer to run mids without caps etc in the way, tweeter will cross at 7 khz .
Budget haven't thought about it yet, lets see how hard it bites me when I go deeper, most probable will try out either Supravox 215rtf without whizzer or Ems 8bl first. Amps have a vintage 300B build by a famous Guru here, interesting part is that it uses 2A3 via IT as driver, it does sounds really good but I will need to rebuild it as its in a tatty shape & its got a slight hum. Now using Primaluna Dialogue 7 as main set up.
