Yes! I have one in an M-Audio Audiophile 192 (digital out). You must find the right point, because soundcards-SPDIF is mostly different from the usual one...

Can you tell me more?
Did you perhaps compare i2s to ST (the audiophile 192 mounts the envy chip from which can be tapped i2s)
Circuit for the transmitter below...
@ Telstar
No I didn't compare it. I2S is for very short ways. Too short for my PC-DAC-distances (for me ...). This kind of fiber optic sounds so good compared to the usual cable solutions - main reason must be the complete galvanic isolation (and no usual transformer problems in this case...) - that I didn't seriously consider this way. Though it is very promising...
I didn't make this ST-job on the card. I will do it with this new parts (not quiet identical) and this circuit in my next project (Asus Xonar D2X - PCIe, shielded, separate PS or Lynx).
Have a look at Georges Wadia schematics at post #14. After P1 ST-out and Toslink begins or otherwise the usual cable S/PDIF (74hcu04)...

Hi,
I will get the Ratioplast parts soon and have decided to build this stuff. But parallel I will also make a second installation of darkfenriz' suggestion. In audio, things are too different only to "belief" in something without listening to different solutions ...
@ darkfenriz
For this reason I would request you to give another input: I've got many informations from Laser2000. But no information up to now for a working combination of a simplex

For this reason I would request you to give another input: I've got many informations from Laser2000. But no information up to now for a working combination of a simplex
in association with any circuit. There are always two kind of parts: Either DC/DC PECL or AC/AC TTL. How can I get on for our DC - TTL situation? 🙁singlemode fiber 9/125 and 1310nm wavelength fabry-perot laser transmitter capable of 155Mbit/s or more.

I think, this should be the right parts at Appointech. Data Coupling & SD Output Level: -> Ordering information "H"
1,25 GBit/s
622 MBit/s
1,25 GBit/s
622 MBit/s
Receiver:... - no electronic is needed!
I forgot: ...with the exception of a LC at Vcc/GND
The fleabay seller I got my 1414/2416 from mistakenly sent 2414/2416 instead
A replacement 1414 is on the way, but that puts any attempts to build a test circuit on hold for a week or two...
Interesting research TJF, tho' having to deal direct with distributors - who generally don't bother answering requests for single part sales - to source parts is a major drawback.

Here is a little more I picked up on the AT&T ODL-50

Very interesting! Thank you George ...
I am very anxious to listen to the 1310nm Version with 9/125, what darkfenriz recommended 🙂 The laser is still more concentrated than in your comparison of the 870 and 930 nm.

Cool. I'm considering the new Essence ST (the pci, with better clock). Any update on your work? Unfortunately mt diy skills are quite basic.
Any update on your work?
Last time I was too busy to go on... I will do it the next weeks. But I think you mean Essence STX and PCI-e...? PCI-e is always the better place 🙂
By the way: Did anybody change the clock of its card?

No, i really mean PCI. the upcoming ST has a better clock and option for 7.1 daughterboard. Asus changed the clock, and that should be enough, unless we slave it to an external dac.
About sound performance, i'm not sure if pci-e is always best. The STX uses a pci-to pcie adapter for the chipset.
Anyway with molex power, they should be both immune to the unclean power of pcie/pci.
See the thread here:
http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f46/xonar-essence-st-sneak-peak-414322/
the upcoming ST has a better clock
Didn't find any evidence in that thread... But the clocks in soundcards are not the best at all. So I am inquisitive to find someone who has still changed a soundcard clock with a Tent-clock or similar.
If you look at Cics work with cmp, he is doing a lot of things to reduce load from the sensitive PCI-bus. PCI-e bus is much less sensitive like the old PCI-bus. That is one of the reasons, why I wouldn't go on with PCI-cards...

I suspect that the improved clock that asus put would be enough for the purposes of digital transport. But if you want to experiment on the STX, you're very welcome 🙂
I can sell you my tent clock (but it's the full version not only the crystal)

If the card takes power from the molex instead of the bus, it shouldnt matter wether is pci or pci-e. Am i correct?
OT: Cics is doing too many things and using a too weak pc. IMO half of those do NOT change the sound quality.
From my experience, using a separate PSU or even better, keep the DAC out of the computer and well isolated, would be 99% of the job.
ST allows this, with the full 24/192k that is future proof.

No! 🙂 But the extern power supply is very important.
PCI-Bus is more influenced by the use of i.e. USB-Devices and other peripheral ...
In your link above I could only find this:
"We have the Essence STX to the left hand side and the ST engineering sample to the right. We do understand this card is said to have a different clocking circuit from its predecessors but are waiting for more information on the specifications of the new part and resulting circuit."
By the way: This is rather off-topic... 🙂
