Fake TIP2955 from Mouser?

You were actually able to see the wires? Usually, when you smash open a flatpack the whole top half of the die (along with the bond wires) gets sheared off like in 57. When they survive intact (with white goo) you know they’re fake.

Slightly off topic, but.. I vaguely recall some time ago in one of these 2955/3055 threads, Taiwanese equivalents sold by a Singaporese company were mentioned. Can someone here point me in that direction? Google has not for been my friend in this search.

There are Mospec, UTC, Powersafe and other Taiwanese makes, but usually they insist on a large quantity.
Singapore is expensive, doubtful if there are traders selling parts there.
Indian CDIL is good, worth a try.

No ties to any names above.

Mospec and UTC are available through distribution, and I’m pretty sure CDIL is too - so small quantities are possible. Importation can be the real problem. Then again, small quantities are likely to fall under customs radars, large ones are not.

My question related to a specific mentioning of specific types cheap Taiwanese equivalents through a Singaporese distributor: not a question in general. Cant find that post back and dunno who wrote that, that is the point.
