@captain pugwash The original did have current limiting but many people omitted that circuitry entirely.

Great start, please tell us where this massive heatsink comes from 😍
Some folks have a special bond with their cats, me I just really like massive heatsinks 🤪

Appreciate your can't have too much heatsink fetish 😀

Those boards are tiny! I'm guessing that HS is ~ 0.50 deg C/W
Sending quick recognition for (1) the super high quality PS PCB and (2) the BOM in the rev1 pdf on page 1. On the former, the paths and vias are generous. As is the font for those of us with not so young eyes. On the latter, the recommended Epcos 400uf capacitors truly 'snap in' and look to be of excellent quality, especially considering the reasonable price. You can see I've elected for the 4.7ohm thermistors anticipating 1.4A bias.
PSU tested and functioning! Reading approximately 26VDC on both + and - with line voltage 121.6VAC.
Thanks again to @poseidonsvoice for taking time to provide a detailed explanation to my question. I leaned something!

Thanks for the prompt - checked, I got two pairs of each.Anyone else get 4x J74s in their kit?! (And no 170s!).
Are you saying you got the correct quantities, or 4 x J74 and 4 X K170?
JimK04, if you email me your address*, I can send you the K170's.

*everyone has mine....

Hi Nelson. I just got 4 X 74s but no 170s. I am in the UK so don't wish to inconvenience you with international shipping. Have emailed the store to see if I can purchase 4 x 170s and pay for shipping to ease the situation. Shall keep in touch and thanks very much for the offer.
Jim: all the stores Toshibas come from papa. And in helping you he is helping the store financially and practically. I’d accept his offer. But I am constantly greedy so that kinda blurs my judgement

Apologies Nelson, poorly written on my behalf. I did get the correct quantities, 2 x J74 and 2 x K170. Should have said two pairs total. Or two of each. Are you saying you got the correct quantities, or 4 x J74 and 4 X K170?

Thanks ZM, they do. Also, haven't cleaned flux yet so that amps up the ugliness in the high res photos.
