Bear,
No turn on thump with mine either, however, measuring the DC offset at start up ~30mA and drops to ~+/- 4mA when PS fully charged, < 1 minute.

You measure offset current? ;-)
Emmmmmmmmmmmmm, voltage. 😱
Thanks for catching that.
Looking back, who said current?

I was joking, because you used mA (milliAmpere) instead of mV(milliVolts). Of course you knew the difference. But looking at this, I fear that someone tries to put his Multi on "mA" settings...

After several days, I finished two F5 balanced monoblock.
I am very very happy sound!
We compared with F5, 5 Aleph, Aleph X.
F5 balanced - is my favorite!
I very much Nelson Pass and Patrick (EUVL) for everything!
Sorry for my English🙂🙂

yo man !
that's Fugly!!!
all 4 pictures !

At first, I thought it was a commercial product. I was like "Where's the F5?"
The heatsink looks undersized. Are you running lower bias?

Vitali,
very nice amplifiers!
Nice speakers also. Could you give us more details about them?
Thanks for the feedback🙂
OB speakers:
Fostex and Supravox go with XF5;
2xEminence Alpha 15 "- Active filter with Aleph5.

Thanks Zen Mod !
Your appreciation means a lot to me🙂🙂

The heatkins is 400x160x83mm.
U = 15V, Bias = 2A (4A total)
Maximum temperature heatkins -48...50 degrees (room is 26 degrees)

Very nice Vitali. I see your using those new invisible transformers -- saves a lot of space that way. Just kidding -- where did you put the trannys - in the case -- or outboard?
What amps do you have on the bottom?
Thanks,
Steve

vitalica,
I was wondering a few things...
what do you hear as the difference in the sound between the balanced and regular?
what did you use for the resistors in series with the Mosfets?
which mosfets did you use?
whose balance schematic did you use?
what are those three pin devices that are in the front on the bottom??
and finally, after how long did you measure the temperature of the heatsinks??
I too thought they might not be large enough and/or perhaps in that orientation they would not work so well...
Oh, you said "2A" bias - measured how?
_-_-bear
Forgot to mention - very nice looking job! 😀

I want to share some more impressions for the f5.
As I said to "F5 power amplifier" thread I use large skins, so after many hours the temperature stays to about 40oC, so after reading I started playing with the bias...
0.60v >>> 40oC >>> 65oC (mosfet)
0.71v >>> 43oC >>> 80oC (mosfet after 30min)
The weird is that the two of this positions gives a different sound!
The big difference was in the bass area and the mids (I beleive highs were the same)
So my results,
in 0.60v I had a huge, great bass (the midbass was thin), the mids were little behind and the highs were very good
in 0.71v the bass gone away but the midbass became huge, the mids left the veil and became huge (I liked them, but where is the bass), the highs also had a little better volume.
now 0.65v and here are all, perfect balance for all.
Anyone with the same experience?

Ur double posting... best decide which thread you want to be in... this one's topic is more about what ur saying... fwiw... but I did respond in the regular F5 thread to this same post... maybe the moderators want to tidy this up?? dunno

Thanks Bear,
Exactly what I was thinking.
I am interested in the temperature delta between .6V and .7V. Should be measurably hotter!
