If you want to use 'any' LED then the red one you picked will certainly work BUT if you want to use the 'right' one for a Papa amp, it has to be blue.

Actually as sad as it sounds, I'm not. It's a sickness in this forum that you contract by looking at the quantity prices when putting parts in your online cart. Why settle for 10 for $2 when you can have 100 for only $12 more.

In all seriousness though, any LED will work and choose the one that makes you happy. You may run into situations where you have to buy specific ones such as in the case of the DCB1. In those cases the component value you need to pay attention to is the forward voltage. In one version of the F6 (TeaBag's version), they use 2 LEDs in place of the zener so in that case as well, the forward voltage matters (my understanding).

I asked because I often forget to look closely where in what project I am. Having had my troubles sourcing the correct ones for the B1 mez, so I tagged "LED" with the "dangerous part"-flag ...

You could use green ones too eg LTL-4231N
Just buy a stack of both of those, they are useful for many applications.

Problem is I either have to, or buy whole bobbins. ok, buy bobbins. what bobbins? what's a good, non-boutique wire? And, AWG 12 for PSU-stuff, and 26 for signal? which for the output?
