This must be the most anticipated driver of the year!
Klipsch often quote "in room" sensitivity, not anechoic.Makes me wonder how Klipsch managed to claim 102dB/W/M at 34Hz for the Cornwall. Doesn't look much more than 150L for that box.
That 5” looks really interesting. Anyone know how hard it is to trim bulk molding compound? Those look like they were made for NHT XDS cabinets but I think the Seas W15 has a ~10mm smaller cutout with a similar flange size.
yes, very exciting and something to look forward to 😎+1

The preview data sheet is currently being reviewed for publication. Here is a sneak peek
Take my money!
Seriously, that's looks great. Any hint on how large a sealed box would be with it?
I am currently using the PTT6.5 in 8L sealed matched with a Bliesma T25B6. It goes down to around 85Hz and below is picked up by an array of subs. I listen to mostly symphonic music and the PTT6.5 is spectacular in sound with such complex music. However, it is a bit strained when played very loud. It has bottomed out in some music. I am hoping the 8" will provide a bit more headroom in the bottom end so I can push the sub down to 65Hz, and then have the extra Vd to handle a bit more loudness.
This will be my end game build. I have been looking into how to fill that 65Hz-85Hz hole and contemplating some 10" or even 15". The Satori WO24P has a rising HD below 100Hz and the box need to be 60L. I have JBL 15" which has -55dB HD all the way to 60Hz but it will need a 150L box. I would pay extra to be able to have a smaller box. And these days, the saving in wood money should be worth the anticipated extra cost!

Put down my name too!
WTWWW 2,5-way with a tweeter in a wg would be an end game speaker. 😎
Might be the end to the bank account as well.
Haha, the worlds most expensive DIY tower?
Purifi 6.5M
Bliesma T25B in 6.5 waveguide

Purifi 8

Might need to extend the mortgage

I would go with the 8” all the way, why not! ;-)
Spendy but still a lot cheaper than any high end comercial speaker you can buy.
Btw, the up and coming version of the Elsinore will use four Purifi 6.5 per channel.

thanks! What Qtc do you want for your sealed box? we hope to so a version with a softer suspension that works better for sealed (reduces box volume). But sealed would achive an F3 around 55Hz for Qtc=0.7Take my money!

55Hz is great! Right now my PTT6.5X04 is at Qtc=~0.55 (~8L). I love the sound coming out of it. I'd like to stay with similar Qtc if box size is manageable.
Where did you cross over to the T25?...

2KHz. Active XO for now for tuning.
I'd expect at least 3-6dB better, but 10dB is great! It is uniformly 10dB better than the PTT6.5X !
A bigger cone will reduce distortion and increase sensitivity. but what's more remarkable is the smooth response out to 2-3KHz, without any funkiness in the cone-edge termination. This is definitely an unrivalled 8" midwoofer.
Lar's, what's the frequency at which the 45 degrees off axis drops by 3dB?
looking foward to the expansion of the line...
best regards,
Thanh
PS. I have also cabinets with dual 12" woofers holes being made for another peerless 280/309/5mm basket woofer. 🙂
