Actually, the resistors between amp and the driver flatten the frequency response of the JBL driver, not only reduce hiss, so it is a win win solution. I don't think very low impedance output of the amp like Hypex is suitable for some kind of speaker units, and it was tested by Nelson Pass with FR. It's all about the synergy. That's just an indication of extremely poor system design. Why would you use an amp that would produce 150dB at one meter in a domestic environment?? A low gain 100mW amp would be far more suitable. All your test proved is that you are no engineer.
Hi, i hope that this will not be a bother to you- but are you saying that "amplifier dude" is another profile of "bavmike"? I just have checked a few posts by "bavmike" and the attitude, weird combination of extreme confidence with disputable knowledge and constant personal attack of other members seems absolutelly similar. I don´t know for how long you are part of the Moderation team, but perhaps you know about another, now for a few years banned profile "Overkill Audio"? He had very, very similar attitude, starting a lot of topics in non commercial-vendors forums, but steered very quickly to pushing his "revolutionary 4,5 inch BMR drivers" for 70-100 usd, advertising them as "revolutionary prototype series of his ownd design, i was one of the naive buyers then, perhaps not able to even imagine that somebody would sell product of another company pretending that this is "his invetion", so later i have found out that he is a complete fraud, pretending to be inventor and audio revolutionaire.Bavmike has gone and we do not want continuing discussion over this. Posts related to this have been deleted.
I also have found the Cotswold Sounds company, as an original inventor and producer, and their owner has told me that "Derek Wilson" /Overkill Audio/ Custom Install systems/ is a fraud who just have bought few dozens of these drivers and got very nice discount around 20 usd a piece.
He was also passive-agressive like those two profiles.
I find extremelly interesting how "amplifier dude" presented so many descriptions of his reference devices/products which he is working on, but showed nothing that pictures downloaded from the web. Well, let´s leave it there. 🙂
March Audio Sointuva speakers are available by order from Australia. A large bookshelf type enclosure.
Several Hypex Ncore-based amps and a dac available as well!

6,5" Purifi woofer with two Purifi BR units, and BliesMa 35mm tweeter, exceptionally good directivity and low distortion for a 2-way unit. Check Erin's homepage for the upcoming Klippel NFS test and review!
And the designer is certainly not a socpuppet!

Agreed, there is a big difference between lashing together a bunch of costly components, vs building a 'product' that also uses some newer well regarded components. Respect to Mr "March".
Did the sockpuppet account drive away Irisbo? I’m curious because I ended up returning my pair of PTT6.5W drivers to Meniscus for a credit towards a pair of PTT6.5M drivers (whenever they arrive) which would better suit my needs. The goal is a pair of two-way monitors using the Purifis and a pair of Raal 70-20XR ribbon tweeters I purchased in the swap meet forum. I’m fine taking my time with this project as I am already up to my ears in amplifier, preamplifier and loudspeaker projects and I would also like to see how a waveguide might improve the Raal’s low frequency performance, possibly leading to crossing over to the forthcoming Purifi 8” midwoofer instead.
About waveguides, seems like Alan March ended up to using a waveguide!

Satori TW29BNWG-4 Beryllium Dome with wg. If I remember correctly, one reason was poor availability of BlieSMa

And here we have this passive design by kimmosto (VituixCAD guru) Passive 2-way with Purifi PR, SB26ADC tweeter

Nice choice! They are like made for each other. Here is a natural crossover with no filters or padding applied. Just the requisite 2.2uF series cap the RAAL needs as it cannot be DC connected.Did the sockpuppet account drive away Irisbo? Every time I see a speaker with an exposed beryllium driver (usually in a waveguide), I shudder inside. Am I the only one?About waveguides, seems like Alan March ended up to using a waveguide!

I'm really considering using ptt6.5's in a theatre system. This is an 11.2 system but also a 2 channel system most of the time. Room is 30x40x12 on slab with solid concrete walls on 3 sides. The theatre sub will be too much to use in 2ch. Does anyone with experience with the Purifi drivers think large 2 or 3 way L-R towers can supply the expected listening experience? The reference system is Grand Utopias powered by Krell monoblocks.

Are you planning to replace the main speakers only or also the surrounds?
It will be difficult to replace a speaker with 15" with a bunch of 6.5". You will need at least 4 on each side.
As for the surround, it is straight forward. PTT6.5 in around 8L sealed box and match it with your favorite tweeter. I am experimenting with that. In a 20x20ft room and just a single PTT6.5 won't feel small in my room.
My other speakers are Mezzo Utopia and a pair of JBL with 15" woofers. The single PTT6.5 beat the Mezzo in detail and pace, playing a complex symphony the Mezzo smears out the instruments while the PTT6.5 reveals a lot more. However a single PTT6.5 won't beat the JBL with deep room shaking bass, the scale just not there.
The PTT6.5 will be ideal for surround IMHO. In sealed box they roll off slowly at around 75Hz, the rest can be picked up by the sub. I might end up building a few pairs for that purpose in the future.
First order of business is front pair for 2 channel. Thinking a 12" with 6's (multiple? With possibly radiators?) and tweet and leaving the theatre subs for the butt shaking movie experience only. I think the purifi 6 + tweet can be excellent surround/ atmos solution too. Want to mock up some enclosures to demonstrate what they can do paired with Bliesma T34B

Excellent! Can you say much about when the 6.5M drivers might be going out to vendors or how far down the line the 8” driver is? Is a midwoofer version planned for the 8” driver? I hope it’s not rude of me to ask here so apologies if it’s putting you on the spot.
6.5M has been sampling in very low quantities and we are about to have enough parts for mass production. The 8”X will sample in a few weeks. I am working on a W version with paper cone - will have very attractive sensitivity. but this design is still in flux
Will there be a 8X08 as well as a 8X04? Dual 8X08 plus a 6.5M04 plus tweeter of choice will be a killer combo.
8" 8 Ohm mid-woofer with a legit sensitivity somewhere between 90dB - 93dB that measures well and can be crossed up at 2K - 2.5K witha nice roll-off for a simple X-over to HF driver would be very cool! I'm not asking for too much am I, LOL.- The 8”X will sample in a few weeks. I am working on a W version with paper cone - will have very attractive sensitivity. but this design is still in flux
