I can't find the 4.7uF
Hi, maybe you can use stockno 9752315 with a pitch of 7,5 mm?
Good luck, Loek

Hi Mike,
Yes, the 3u3 in 5mm.
Hi loek,
You can use those. Just drill a hole for it and extend the foil or connect with wire. The lead may reach the existing foil.

Chris, I am going to use an external(of board) polyprop cap, just behind the input RCA. It was just a hint for Bremen Nacht

Here's the capacitors prices that I found at Farnell :
10pF Mica Cornell Dubilier : 2USD
100pF Mica Cornell Dubilier : 1,10USD
47nF WIMA MKS2 : 0,30USD
100nF WIMA MKS2 : 0,20USD
4,7uF WIMA MKS2 : 5,5USD
The 10pF I'll buy because it's critical. But the others...
The 100pF is better to be poliester or ceramic?
Kind Regards,
Fernando

nando, these prices are quite bad... i pay only 1.40€ fo the 4.7uF and 0.07€ for the 100nF... (Wima mks2)
I guess the 100pF might be polyester or styroflex. Or maybe NPO-ceramics.

Hi MikeB!
Which output transistor are you using ?
I want to see high power Symasym version but I dont' remember at which page it is. Would you please send me the url ?
Thanks!

Pesky Capacitors
Fernando, I still can't find 4.7uF WIMA MKS2 on the Farnell site.
And thanks for the Rapid link, Mike - I should have thought of that, I use them often!

Hi thanh, sorry, i missed your post...
My actual outputs are the MJL0281/0302.
About high power version of symasym, i once posted a sketch but had never finished it, sorry.
Mike
Thanks MikeB!
Actually I don't intend to build your amp because I haven't got any high beta transistor such as MPSA18.. I want to refrer way reduce distortion.

I haven't got any either!
I have just got some 10p silver mica and 100p styroflex though. Time to open it up again. 🙂

Thanh, i don't think that the input devices really need to be that high gain, some people use 2n5551 as input devices.
SK389 would also work...
Al, did you use ceramics until now ?

Hi Al,
Changing the caps should get rid of any "edgyness" in the sound. It's a subtle change.
Your junk box ceramics may have been NPO/COG which may not have been that bad. No need to fret.
I am heading towards a J Fet front end using Polystyrene and Mica caps with the MJW devices. This amplifier is performing very well and beyond what I was looking for. The problem with that is now I want to take it further!

Well, upgrades in, but it's a bit hard to notice any improvement at the moment as I just have Black Sabbath on very loudly...

I'm one more interested in the high power version of symasym
