With all due respect, such comments, tells me you know very little about the sport, Ronaldo is not sought after because he lacks talent , there are other factors involved when these guys play international games ...
Dont get me wrong, actually I know more than many about the game, my parents are portuguese and I was forced to play from the age of 4 which I loathed as I had different interest. By the time I was a teenager it had become as complicated as me telling them Im off to football practice and ending up on the rugby field. They only found out when I was 14 and the school sent a letter requesting my appearance at provincial tryouts but for rugby. 😀
My statement is that at international level I cant claim to be clued up as someone that coaches football.
Football is a team sport as a member has mentioned which I fully agree with, and here too Ronaldo fails, he has the attitude that he is more important than the others causing friction in the team, not only on the field but also psycologically.
I dont think you have all the facts quite right, read the newspapers of our country, he has long been under fire fo being mediocre at the level of internationals.
Yes Ronaldo made 50 goals at club level, Messi made 60 at the same level and the same league but more importantly Messi has made around 15 in internationals including a hatric and that against probably the worlds best team brazil, what did ronaldo make ?? I think it was 1 or 2 against some of the worlds less capable teams 😀 Need I say more....
Sometimes we have no more than invoke the Messiah ... err ... Messi.😀
You who know, how one can have as good players, while a team that bad?😕
I was not wrong thread, not a silly question...😉
Even the best fans ....😀
Ah yes more of those please, 😎
Where are the Dutch supporters, they have beautifull women...... er supporters.
Someone should point Jaco to this thread, Im sure he could make some nice contributions.
Watched the England vs Sweden match last night - great to see England playing some really inspiring football. Would love to see them do well this time around.
In my opinion, a lot of the traditional Scottish dislike of England comes from the massively over-hyped media coverage England tend to get. Every tournament it's the same thing: "they must do it this time - they are brilliant"..... and then they fail to perform. It's refreshing to see that the balance appears to have been changed this time - the media are relatively humble and don't expect too much, and the team is actually playing some really good football.
Go England!
(although I suspect Spain or Germany will walk away with the trophy)

Personally I think the scottish dislike of everything english comes from a) history
and b) the fact that regardless of sport scottish competitors are deemed 'british' if they win and 'scottish' if they lose in all media including the BBC.
(I've even seen the Beeb to refer to a winning scot as 'english'!)
Even the national anthem of GB speaks of clobbering scots.
My guess for the near future is that for the last group game England will get Rooney back, assume that now the title is theirs, then get beaten by the Ukraine and go home early.

I could be wrong Cal..but something tells me International Football (Soccer) is not top of your things to watch list😉
The time difference means I am at work during these matches.
I watch the MLS Vancouver Whitecaps FC and of course the World Cup and all it's qualifying but these matches are happening mid morning for me.
Cheers.
Ronaldo
Some people appreciate intelligence and some people prefer a good pair of legs. Nothing new here. 🙂

Poland and Russia are going home, well the polish team is already home but they'll watch the remainder of the games on TV.
Who would have thought that Greece would make it through?

The Russians underachieved...dominated the game but could not finish...this reminds me of 2004 where the Greeks simply outlasted their opponents.
The Poles lacked the luck of the Czechs to finish at least one opportunity.
I am very interested to see if the Germans experiment at all tomorrow with their lineup or send out a definitive statement to the remaining teams of what lays in store for them...although Denmark has managed to play surprisingly well, I doubt that they appreciate the full extent of Germany's power.
Holland vs. Portugal. I am afraid the Dutch are done this year...backed into a corner they will do what the Dutch teams always do...fold!
Portugal will get through to the Final 8 and build some more confidence and we may yet see Ronaldo come to some prominence...it would be lovely to see such a technically gifted player finally break through

Yes...you're right, of course, the timing of the games here on TV is problematic...once again I jumped to the wrong convulsion...😱

Speaking of Europe, what are those Argentinian players doing in this thread?

To paraphrase Chancellor Merkel: The greeks need more Europe, not less.
Though chances are that the next game will be as far as Greece will go given that in all likelihood they will face Germany next.
We'll know for sure in a few hours.

Nothing wrong with the first two, they can come to Europe and play whenever they like IMHO.
Someone should point
P-O !
Greece should be EC 2K12 winner, if necessary through serious bribes (no big deal in the socker bizz nowadays).
Greeks happy, Euro saved, me make buck.
(socker is like Tulips, they make money, but it's not required to eat them yourself (unless there's another ww going on).
Ah, the days of shaking Maradonna's hand at 3AM, when he was in town with Boca Juniors for a friendly game in A'dam , ~96.
Stoned out of his skull, coke lines all around his nose, and two hookers on his side. (no kidding)
Those were the days, my friend !

I think i'm more partial to Argentina ladies.
If Popilin posts another big booby one without knickers, i'll take my shirt off.
(quick, i'm getting nauseated again, where did i leave the orange sickness pills)

Are useful as a bad example ....😀
About Canada you did not say anything ...🙄
Sorry, I thought at least you would like the girls ...😎

Nothing wrong with the other two either ( I love Messi) but IMO, it's a bad sign for Greeks. Sharing the same colors and banking problems. Association of ideas maybe, or maybe not.
