The same hardware setup running on the Ubuntu Studio machine delivered the surprise of the day.
The harmonics vanished even at 0dBFS level. This is hardly believable, I guess it relates someway to the real-time kernel.
Any explanations are welcome...

Real-time kernel has no effect on USB timing, nor does it change data.
Honestly, my 2 cents you have a digital loopback somewhere in your measurement, this looks like 24bit digital sine dithered somewhere between 16 to 24 bits. But maybe you got lucky and the distortions somehow cancelled out. But together with that 0.0dBFS - very unlikely.

Nah... I turned EMU "off" in "pavucontrol" I think it is after I updatet, it worked before also Diana with 192Khz and wineasio. I have to dig some more44.1kHz is default pulseaudio samplerate. Perhaps PA is switching your card? Do you have the card disabled (off) in PA hardware config?
