The amp will sound great regardless of parts... will get back to you with other answer, got crazy here to meet deadline to get PCB's off to fabrication house for a commisioned project.
Nice review...thank you are you told that i told the truth....yep...i use to do this way.

Carlos
No, carlos, Thank You for providing something to the DIY community that is so nice. You spend so many hours doing this, just to share your pleasure and reward with everyone else. I appreciate it.
It really is a pleasure to listen to. This will replace my previous DIY amp. My previous amp is a tl082 opamp with BUF634 in the feedback loop along with LM3886. As good as that sound (and it does sound good), this is much better. Now I will have to move that to the bedroom for late night tv/movie/music use.
Once I get the stereo pair done, and the rest of the components (DOZ Preamp, summed output to the 15" subwoofer, power supply for these amps, etc) I will give a more thorough review.
Thank you...very kind from you two.
I really have worked hard...very hard ....and it is a prize to me when someone perceive my effort and goodwill.
This drives me happy...i do think this makes worth my effort... all the respect and gratitude directed to me.
regards,
Carlos

Getting the second channel done... won't be long!
I have one question. I swear it will be my last!
Regarding Q7, the BC547C "amp murderer" as carlos calls it. Back within this thread it is said that this should be a BC546C, as the BC546 has adequate voltage rating. I have some other transistors here, namely a 2SC2240 GR. All is well comparing the two transistor's datasheets. I notice that for the BC547 it is a "C" classification, having an hFE of 420-800. I need to know if this is critical. The 2SC2240's that I have are the "GR" type, having an hFE of 200-400. Will this make much of a difference?
And, if that is no good, it is also said that the transistor can be removed. Carlos actually does not like it there at all. Apparently some others requested it to be included. I would like to know if it comes to it, can the transistor be pulled right out of the board simply, or if their will have to be a circuit modification done first.
I would prefer just to replace the transistor with a 2SC2240, but if that will not work I will remove it. Or worst comes to worst, I will have to buy some BC546C.
Here are the datasheets, if anybody would be so kind to help me out.
2SC2240
BC546
I am aware the pinout is different, and I will have to curve some pins...
Thanks.

2SC2240 handle only 300mW thermal dissipation,
while the BC546 is rated 500/650mW, depending
on the manufacturer.
Edit : looking at the schematic, both are adequate
since worst case thermal dissipation will be negligible.

Because of different gain....maybe you will have the sonic killer operating much more
than we hope and much more than we need.
This can kill much more your sonics...well.... try it and listen both of them and then inform here what you have perceived...give yourself a chance to listen without the sonic murderer.

To remove, can I just pull the transistor out?
Yes...remove it entirelly instead to dessolder the base
remove from the board, at least two leads, and one must be the base.
pull it out...yes....better this way....and listen.... and increase volume in the input..observe dinamics and treble high end.... you will notice something.... please... return and inform folks if you perceived something and what you have perceived...this will be a good cooperation with the community.... some review.
This transistor (sonic murderer action) depends on the input level... it compresses, kill dinamics, distorts high end..makes sonics very poor....limiters, in special V/I limiters are a very bad solution...people use because they do not use to listen both options..so...they do not know the real thing...they go believing in fake things because some of them are lazy to remove, re install and to try several times...too much arrogant about their beliefs and technical skills that drives them blind to the real thing.... well...some of them are just lazy.
Now a days i am using these transistors in the output (with complementary naturally)...they are good, strong and stable..not addicted to oscilations..have nice current... and good gain..... i do suggest folks, if possible, to use these ones together my amplifiers for more and more reliability...these ones was gift, sent to me from Canadá, by Evette.

Thank you Carlos, will do.
😛 Hi,Carlos How are you sir, I trust are feeling better. And a brief note to see that your using the devices I sent you, Evette,,😱
I am very gratefull to you dear Evette... i do observe everyday
these lovely transistors playing... i use to open the case to watch the amplifier inside.... passion does that.... crazy thing to be watching parts?... maybe in a very good way.... and i do remember what you did, the several packages having lovely transistors that arrived here at my home.... several paisr of these high output devices and other good ones too..as MJE15028/20/30/31/32/33 and MJE15034 and many othes, smaller but also very good ones..matched, high gain devices.
Thank you very much...these last amplifiers, the Dx Blame MKII, the MKII Supercharged, and now a days the MKIII and the MAKO are living because of you.
Last week i have spend some money with electronics, a rarity as usually friends send me all i need, as gift and for free... i have to thank not only you but several other good friends:
Klaas Veenstra - power transistors and etched boards for Cyrrus and others
Todd Johnson - several lovely parts (special) and microphone cartridges
Dudainc (this one sent a scope, a function generator and 20 kilos of parts)
Sakis Petropoulos - parts, software and lovely key chain
Greg Erskine (boards from the first Dx amplifier)
Nico Daneel - Nordic (parts and boards to the HRII)
Evette (almost 20 power transistors, around 20 medium power and a lot of small power transistors as 2N5401/5551)
Miguel Nabuco (Mitchel)...parts, boards and helping hand
Renato Comerlatte (Kalashinikova), parts and boards and chips for SMPS
Stee - boards
RAJ - boards
I have bougth copper boards (fenolite) to develop some new ideas and to test the MKIII and the MAKO in a less ugly way..with a little bit less wiring to bother .... after long time i put my hands inside the pocket and i have spent 200 USD in parts...this is a rarity, and made me realise how valuable was your cooperation.
Dx Corporation lives not only because your passion and my passion, but also because your confidence building my amplifiers, the help of several guys that worked hard producing board layout (Klaas, Greg, Nico, Todd, Alex mm, Raj, Mitchel, Metal and others)... and these parts that usually arrive here
and some other friends that will not appreciate me to say their names.
Thank you very much, these amplifiers you assemble and listen with pleasure, exists also because of you.
Dx Corporation is more a Dx Cooperation than other thing.... this picture shows my daugther visiting me..she came from Rio de Janeiro, her home town (mine too)..and this happened because Mitchel that sold a lot of amplifiers i have built...he paid the air tickets.... you see, i am rich, even not earning money from my designs i have all i need.

Carlos

😛Mr. Carlos sir You never have to thank me for anything I send you.😀 It,s always with the warmest feelings that I,m so happy to give it too you. I know in my heart they will be put to great use,,and to see you producing another amplifier makes me even more than happy..The talent you have should always be surported,,with pleasure😉 Evette
Thank you very much Evette...even not needing to thank you
it is a pleasure to recognize a good friend in public.

words that come to mind while listening at moderate levels the stereo pair of channels to Opeth - Ghost Reverie:
Forward
Electric
Attacking
Wide
Beautiful
Scary
Intricate
Powerfull
Punchy
Hypnotizing
Easy to listen to
The electric guitar is exactly that... electric. I could reach out and touch it. I will continue to post photos at various stages of completion.

Yep...it is nice... sounds that way you said
I do think the HRII (previous one) is even better, despite it puts out only 40/70 watts rms.... the Dx Blame series sounds alike the HRII with some difference in the treble range.
I have discovered the way to control the treble without distort (too much), was an accident, a discovery due to a mistake (this was wonderfull)..alike God's inspiration, God help or God protection...we like to put God in everything, so we do not feel alone in the Universe.
But each amplifier has their own sonic signature, and this is what makes the stuff so wonderfull... always a surprise... we design, we check in the simulator, but we never know, in advance, how the hell thing will sound..can be lovely, can be awfull too.... we feel disappointed from time to time...but usually we have nice surprises.
Amplifiers, not to be really bad, have JUST not to fail in biasing...if you decide proper biasing and levels..then ALL amplifiers will sound good, each one of them with their signature, naturally.
Uncle charlie is always thinking about amplifiers... 50 years long thinking and checking myths...yesterday i was checking that crazy thing some guys says..that we need a correct place, spatial point, to capture the feedback... they say must be alike star ground.... the junction we have in the output power emitters...there you should pick the feedback to the differential.... "full ship" of foolishes... no difference... i have made all crazy possibilities picking signal in several different points..and NO LISTENABLE DIFFERENCE...so...people goes dreaming in a very delirating way and spreading foolishes all around...and i go checking and laughing about them.
Unbeliavable people doing that .... very lazy they are ... not to check these foolished by themselves.... well.... C'a marche!
I am proud about my amplifiers...we ALL should be proud about our creations... but i am much more proud about my 3 daugthers... each one of them more beautifull than the previous one... each one from a different mother (heheheheh)

Carlos

Maybe someone that has bougth these boards several years ago and
never assembled can sell you his boards, or make a kind of exchange or trade..... for sure the one provided these boards are not producing them anymore...these boards are unavailable....observe this thread's first post date and you will see the thread and the amplifier are really old.
Somewhere in this same thread you can have the gerbers, and these files are the ones you need to order boards from manufacturers....these gerbers where published.
Nordic (Nico Daneel) was the one provided boards and kits of parts...but seems he passed away, as he disappeared, almost vanished from the Internet and he was an internet addicted.... was his profession to fix computers and to produce home pages...so.... he gone... sadly i do think he gone... here you have his home page recorded in a site by a friend:

Thank You for your help, i think i will try to etch the pcb myself but i have different transistors / psu voltage than the original circuit.
i photoshopped the original circuit and modified with my parts can you please tell me if this will work with these transistors as good as the originals.
also if i use the BC546/556 should i use the A,B,C version of the device.
