VERY impressive craftsmanship. Interesting concept. Have you considered NJM4556 that can be delivered in a SIP8 housing? It seems that with NJM4556, you only need 25% ICs.
How do you make your spouse accept such an "atelier"?

Nice build! I'd recommend getting a ADALM2000 for taking measurements, competitively priced with nice features (better than most of the cheap oscilloscopes).
Just found this thread some weeks ago.
Even it´s almost 6 years ago since the last post, i thought to mention that i built the Elektor PBC version
of this amp in a parallel 64 X NE5532 2 mono block prototyp setup in 2012.
Years ago when i check the amps i wasn´t to enthusiastic about their performance with my Tannoy 15" Arden Monitors.
So the Mono amps went into my DIY projects storage.
Early this year, when i desided to clean up my DIY workshop i retested them for function and reconnected the
NE5532 amps again with a pair of small 8Ohm ProAC Studio 130 speakers.
Now the amps seam to be a complete different fish.
Absolut astonishing performance.
I found myself sitting infront of the audio system for hours.
I have build in the range of 20 different DIY transistor & tube power amps BJT, MosFet, Single ended, PushPull ..
The 5532 Power amp combined with well suited speakers are just wonderful.
Chapeau to Mr. Douglas Self for this unusual design. 👍

Interesting. Wonder what was wrong before? Overloading? Perhaps 128 parallel opamps would work with the other speakers?
One thing I reckon about the massively parallel opamp design is that if one chip fails it will probably be either compensated for, or blown up by all the others... As opamps can handle continuous short circuits I wonder what failure modes exist? Overheating?

I blame it on me, i had not enough time when i first checked out the capabilities of this amp.
Might have been the impedance curve of the old Tannoy Arden speakers, or interaction of the feedback with the
Electro Motoric Counterforce of the 15" Chassis with big voicecoil and Alnico Magnets with a soft speaker bead ?
With the little ProAC speakers the 5532amps are working amazing good.
I am using 2 low noice Fans with a kind of an airduct to cool the OPamp´s
If i don´t do this the OpAmps reach 60-70°C dependant on the position on the PCB.
This might not be a problem but i prefer a light airstream.
The amps are runing silent.
Using the symetric inputs, i measure 0,3mV of noice at the output posts with a 8Ohm load.
With regards to potential failures.
The 32 Opamps are arranged in 4 groups, this groups can seperate from each other with jumpers.
Together with using good quality sockets for the Opams this makes it easier to find potential problems.

Re thermals: if you build a surface-mount version of the amp you can mount the PCB direct on a heatsink and avoid a fan...
