127e
My 127e sounds a bit hyperactive and excited.
I was thinking of applying felt dots one on top of the other to the center dustcap to see if any difference is audible for the better. If not they come off.
They are eff. tho and do nicely with the SI amp and a powered sub.

Hello Zilla:
I suggest a quick read through Nelson Pass's article on FR drivers and a making modified filter. His work indicated that these drivers like a current source rather than a voltage type source. I am not familiar with the T-amp but my guess is that it is likely a voltage type source.
Just a thought
Good luck

I'd also try using a higher resistance wire. Something like 24AWG, or perhaps even 30AWG magnet wire will pull the bass into line with the rest of the response. If you insist on 'hifi' cable, Van Den Hul's carbon wire is highish resistance, and should do the same job.

Good point Scott
I use single strands of CAT5 wire to feed mine. I forgot to mention that.
If you are an Allen Wright fan "Thin is in" The 30 gauge magnet wire is a bit fo a bear to work with. I think it is pretty good for interconnects and internal wiring. What do you think maximum length would be for speaker runs made from it?

could you repost the drawing?
thanks.
I have been using FE127s for a long time now.

Would this be a suitable enclosure for a FE126E, too?

No...

oodi said:Silly question now... Which would be a better speaker to use with a SE tube amp, the design above with FE127E or the Solo 103 with FE103E?
I haven't heard the Solo (but love the looks -- it inspired the miniOnkens -- we have pieces cut to see how well the design adapts to the FE127). I have listened to lots of FE103 variants but not the current FE103E.
I have heard the FE127E in the above box and it is very nice. The FE127 is not a whole lot more money than the FE103, is 3 dB more efficient, and will produce more & lower bass. I expect the rest of the range to be quite similar. With an SE amp -- if the difference in box size isn't a concern -- the 3 dB greater efficiency is the bit that should really sell it.

I'll see if i can grab a bit of time, update the drawings and post them all together in the Wiki.

floor stand
I am looking for a design for my FE127Es
I have a pair of them which is now installed in a spiral horn device (DIY by myself) bookshelf (reference: google spiral horn, it will give u a japanese site making all spiral horn projects)
effect: is only good at the mid and highs and lack of bass
I would like to make a new cab for them , which would give me more bass
What i require would be a design
(1) floor stand
(2) Slim
(3) Not higher than 1.5 metre in height (as my living space is sooo small)
I have seen the design which is previously posted here also :
http://www.vicdiy.com/products/tqwt/tqwt.html
which suits well for my purpose, but it seems that the comment on it is not that good
would any brothers kind enough to suggest me some designs for my issue?
thank you very much 🙂

a classic voigt. Chances are low that it works near as well as the FE127 monopole in this thread.

thanks for your reply
btw, would u mind pointing to me which design is the monopole?
thanks
and
when compared with BK-10 modified version for FE126E
which one sound better?
i use at my DIY tube amp (6CA7, 6SL7)
thanks
I think this is the monople Planet10 was talking about . It can also be seen in post #512: http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/attachment.php?s=&postid=786995&stamp=1134273562mbcy said:

Just to make these easier to find, let me post them all in a row... these probably still need some work, but all the basics are in place....
1st the straight monopoles & bipoles... remember that the width & depth dimensions can be changed as long as the cross section remains the same....
