Thanks again, AudioSan. I just ordered 100 each of KSC1845 and KSA992, and a set of MJW outputs. Price break on a hundred is too much to pass up.
I don't think I'm going to build this right now, but it's good to nail down the inventory for when the mood strikes.

I just got an email from Avnet that the inventory feed from Newark was wrong and they don't actually have KSC1845s in stock. Now I have to see if I can get them not to send me the remainder of the parts. :-(
I used a 600va 2x40v one for mine. The amp is capable of 180w into an 8 ohm load so there is some headroom. or you could use a couple of 300va ones. Oh yes and I also installed a soft start.

My Roksan Kandy had a 600va, rated 115@8 , 185@ 4 respectively. Never had a chance to try the second but it walked all over several big full sized floor standing 8 ohms with pure authority. It had hard hitting deep quick bass snap. Its respectable. It out shined a Bryston 3B ST. 2 bad I let that one slip (first ;(. I'd glady take another early K amp.
Good work. Similar to size, layout was different. I'm not sure if I'm ready to assemble an amp. Maybe I should start with a couple cheaper PS first lol.
P.S the title got my attention first. I just finished watching Honey Bee, a guy made a ginormous farming tractor homade in Saskatchewan Canada,, thats what he named it. Off topic, my bad...I was just exiting 🙂

Has anyone made a ultra compact SMD version of this amp , is it ok I do so ? I can throw in some protection circuit as well..
Hi guys, some days ago I asked someone of you if a CRC PSU design could have suited for this amp. It has been said me that it is preferable to avoid the R part, so I designed a new PSU board starting from Jeffyoung's PSU board. Can you tell me what do you think of it and if I should make some changes? The caps footprints are for 40mm 80V 22000uF caps from Cornell-Dubilier. The resistors are 4,7Kohm 5W. Thank you.

The KSC1845FTA and KSA992FTA's are finally back in stock at Mouser and RS.
Digikey is still out of stock.

I Just wonder if antek transformers is good for this build?
AN-6435 - 600VA 35V Transformer - AnTek Products Corp
or PS-8N35 - 800W 35V Power Supply - AnTek Products Corp

thanks, looks good....as a concession, Robert Cordell says using heavy gauged wires is not needed..#20 is what i mostly use...
Can i use 1/2w resistors where the bom says 1/4w ? I did buy 1/4 W RN60 but they were to big . cmf 55 is the size i want .
Generally, it's okay to go up on power, just not down. Also, make sure you stick with the type of resistor that the designer calls for, unless you know enough to change the recommended type for a specific purpose.
In this case AS is right, the holes in the board are tight the ID runs small.

Another option it to just drill the hole larger so your resistors fits through. There are plenty of pcb drills on ebay. RN60 are good resistors it would be a shame to waste them. Can i use 1/2w resistors where the bom says 1/4w ? I did buy 1/4 W RN60 but they were to big . cmf 55 is the size i want .
