DIY Walsh driver revisited

Yea! Welcome home. 🙂

Now put on some good music and relax.

Been busy as hell here. Orders to fill, problems to solve, clients to talk too, etc. Life is good.

I understand the gold straw thing. Heck, I probably couldn't afford my speakers either if I had to buy them from the outside. They are a Luxury, but a necessary one if you love good music.

I once toyed with scaling back the 12" Walsh driver to a 2" VC and about a 7 or 8" Anulus. We went so far as to make the mandrels and magnet designs, but I opted for the TLS-5's instead.

Still this project could be resurrected. It came with its own set of variables and problems to solve.

Hoping to introduce the Subs by end of year. They just keep being pushed back for other concerns. Damn!

Enjoy the music.

Back from the shadows again....

OK, kids. Today's word for your consideration and contemplation is:

Ischemia.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ischemia

Specifically, Mesenteric ischemia.

I will spare our fans and admirers the details and trivia...and No, diet and lifestyle have nothing to do with it. But for those whose curiosity beckons, follow the magic clickthroughs...

Back to topic...😉

Dale, IMHO you might follow up on a 7"ish version. My experience with my 5" anulus (nice precise term) leads me to believe it's 'versatile'. Sure, anything will require 'cone tweaking', but you won't have to concern self with the lower frequencies with your sub. And since you've done a chunk of the leg work already... Dust it off, and take another look. 😉

I'm still going to putz around with with an upgrade of my 5", but shanhaijing some off-the-shelf stronger drivers, lighter cone stock, and surrounds of sorbothane or eq. as finances allow. That, and an upgrade of the 'puter to push it around to play with my thoughts on using the interference patterns in a 4 speaker 'surround' array. See if levels and delay will make 'interesting things' occur.

I want to see if I can put the lead singer in arm's reach, and make him/her stay there. I'm convinced that a Walsh is likely the best radiator to allow one to do this. People have been pursuing doing this with conventional speakers, but short of creating a ring of drivers around oneself...and controlling that? *Whew* Might as well buy a used Cray and start writing code for it, start stacking amps up in a corner, rewire that room for major line power, and get a mile of lead wire. Oh, and prepare to get divorced. *L*

There's a furniture craftsman here in AVL that shares your 'boat'. He makes nice stuff, but can't afford himself either. The cobbler's kids have no shoes seems to be a common malady. Doesn't seem fair, that...

Agreed on 'life is good', though. We've got work lining up that will carry us into the new year, which beats the F out of the alternative. *S*

...and a spouse that has a new appreciation of the fact that I'm not easily replaced. And all I have to do is stay alive....

It'll cost what it costs, and the warranty does run out eventually. I've a new appreciation for that, too. But, in the meanwhile, until it does...

I Remain, Yours Truly. 😉

*L* We can share that we both got put into the wrong 'in box' at the facilities....

Nobody can figure us out from the get-go. That's either funny or scary for all parties involved. So we're either terribly unique or physically devious. I can roll with either...

Say it loud...I'm Weird and I'm Proud! *LOL*

Quantum computing is So overrated...I mean, anything that'll give you the answer before you ask it? I'd unplug it, if it needed a plug to be plugged in....

...and then there's 'spooky action at a distance'. That's Way Weird. But it explains female logic real well...and that comment could put me in a freezer Big Time. *L*

I really should take an oath of silence, but something would explode...I just know it... 😉
