Gday to all the DIY gang, well I'm from Goulburn and I would love a get together, lets not stop at speakers of course theres TTs, amps, phono pre, etc, within the next few months my total DIY system will be complete and it would be good to share, (and I do mean total including the cartridge even).
But hey why not Goulbun its pretty central to lots of the east coast and it has held many national events for car racing, and all sorts of hobbies and activities and as the oldest inland city in OZ it has a certain charm, except in winter of course!
I think there are a few DIY nuts in Canberra too, it would be worth checking, this could be the start of something great!.
I teach LP to CD conversion amoung other things I come across a lot of budding DIY audio guys and Gals, most are more mature with time on their hands and an itch to get involved in intersting stuff.

I'm in Sydney and would be willing to ride down to Goulburn for a GTG. Got nothing complete to bring atm, though there are a number of projects in process.
I'm likely moving to the Hunter, or far north coast again in the next couple of months though.

I'd be up for a gathering, not sure how far I'm prepared to drive though, probably depend on circumstances at the time (currently unemployed, so could drive to the Alice, just couldn't afford the petrol...

I presume you're the same Terryj on SNA and deduct that Moondog is the same person on that forumalso. SNA seem to host a lot of GTG's of like minded and afflicted individuals and in particular there seem to be a large amount of GTG's hosted in Victoria.
I'm in Melbourne but would be prepared to travel and I think the idea has a lot of merit. I see we have some interest from the Goulburn and Newcastle area and I reckon that either would be a nice weekend trip!

Someone made a good point, might be worthwhile going to some of the other subsections on DIY, have seen a few melbourne boys in the subwoofer forum. For all I know there are guys in valves etc etc etc.
Goulburn or Canberra are just a hop skip and a jump for me, more than happy to pop on down. More than happy to go to Newcastle too!
David, have been thinking about popping down to the ASON, might give it a little bit of preparatory planning for this weekend.

As I say, I've got a pretty large house that can easily put up fifteen or so, indeed come this Bathurst race weekend about that many (tentatively) will be coming up, these guys are from SNA.
Just starting to throw options into the ring I suppose...

I'm in Geelong, which is close to Melbourne. Due to unpredictable health, I could only give a "maybe" to attending a Melbourne get together. Sounds like fun though.

Didn't think you were over at SNA. I don't mind raising the roof either ha ha, and with a bit of (lethal) homebrew to help.
It's early days yet, let's just see what expressions of interest happens.
Logistics might be a problem if it turns out to be a show and tell. Perhaps that was the wrong word. We all know for example how much the results of a setup can vary due to placement in a room for example, so we haul our pride and joy (Can't wait to see the look on their faces when I fire my masterpiece up) to the venue (some local scout hall??) and blow me down if they don't sound like rubbish!!

Unfortunately, my wonderful "audio system" *cough* is currently only on paper at the moment, so it's a bit complicated... but I'd be delighted to see what others have! 😀
I'm ordering a new PC from Umart in a moment, so I think the plan is to make it a "media centre" PC 😎
On-board 8ch audio at first for DSP filtering on the cheap (software suggestions anyone???) , and perhaps an upgrade a little bit later on to an external soundcard. Anyways...
