Hi Hertz,
I tried using an oler digital camera for a closeup shot of the screen. Looks awful. You seem to have a great camera. Im guessing longer exposure than my ISO 50 equivalent.
Would you be so kind as to take a picture of part of the screen up close so that the LCD resolution shows.
Your screen is a great size for 1024x768.
Thanks.

Hello guys,
I’m a beginner interested in building my pj
I need some of your experience help? If you don’t mind?
I just decided to get an CMS1515 LCD, but I have some questions with the others parts
What of this should I must buy, to get great results
Objectives: what’s the best?
Varifocale 275x320mm
Varifocale 310x360mm
Triple objectify 265mm
Triple objectify 300mm
Triple objectify 345mm
Double objectify 400mm
Illumination kit:what’s the best?
250W-HQI kit or 400W-HQI Kit
It make a lot difference between a electronic ballast(much more expensive) and a normal? If yes, why?
Is 250HQI kit sufficient for the projector or is best the 400HQI kit?
The LCD panel doesn’t get damage (lose quality) with the time use, with the HQI bulbs?
If yes, the 400hqi gives more damage to LCD than 250HQI?
The panel UV protection doesn’t take quality projection?
Thanks for you preciously time,
Please help me,
Cheers,

First off, cool pj! Iba talaga ang pinoy!
I know you have a lot of requests for sharing your know-how and expertise, pasingit na lang din ako bro...
To be honest Im not that skilled when it comes to DIY projects, especially when it concerns electronics.
Anyways, if you can find the time, kindly email me a guide to building your own pj and a list of materials to buy and where to buy them. I am based in Manila but I can order stuff from the net.
Email add watdhek@yahoo.com
Btw, my budget is 60T. Is that enough?
Thanks bro!

watdhek,
for 60t approx $1000 dollars, i would recommend for you to buy a commercial projector. DIYPJ budget is below $500. But if you love diy then pls visit my site. Its all there.
paolo,
Kindly visit my site. I explained everything regarding my understanding of this project. Can't give u a suggestion or answers in a very short note.

Below $500? I'll make two then!
Seriously, I've considered getting a Panasonic AE700, but then I decided against it since lamp life is at 3000 hrs not to mention the $1700 net price I got from my dealer. Being a moviebuff and a gamer, 3000 hrs is definitely not enough to justify the investment.
Anyways, will visit your site and hopefully everything is there...
Thanks and I hope you will also find the time and the patience to answer my questions when I start working on my pj.

new DIY Projector fanatic!
Hi Hertz
i spent a whole lot of time surfing thru the thread and learned a few things about your incredible toy!
honestly, i'm not a techie guy, i only like watching movies and appreciate the beauty watching it on big screen. from pinoy dvd i got into this forum with only one mission: to buy it with all parts and cabinet in it ready..just assemble it and i'm done..i may sound like giving up on building my own but with your experiences and knowledge i can't see anything wrong by asking a big favor from you...i just bought a new set of toys for my HT (NAD T-742 & Klipsch Quintet II)) at a price i can't resist--P33,000+only...now, i'm half-done with my dream of owning a complete HT --my stumbling block is owning a projector like yours (w/less strain on the pockets). i printed the ABC's of diy projectors which u posted on the web but i just can't simply do it. maybe a lot of motivation may come into play but i can't afford buying some parts which may take some time and some patience...anyway, i would really appreciate if you are building one and has the intention of selling it, just let me know (rganimo@gmail.com) or if you have some sort of selling the parts complete with cabinet i may have to look at it as well.
thank you.🙂
btw. is your mobile 09178730504 still active?

Not selling at this time. I don't have time now to build another one. In fact i am stuck now now with my existing cabinet which i really want to improve and make smaller.
Its a hobby for me right now. I plan to buy fresnel and projection lens in large quantitiies soon for local use but still saving some money.
I will help you all the way if you have available parts..

Has anyone ever tried doing this? I am thinking of trying it. Kindly suggest if it is a waste of money.
"New Life for S-Video Connections Through DIY
by Doug Blackburn
Standard S-Video connections take a back seat, quality-wise, to the newer three-wire component video setup. Most consumer component video connections have RCA jacks on both ends. S-Video connections employ particularly annoying mini-DIN connectors. The female end of these connectors, found on DVD players, some VCRs, and many video monitors, are nothing to write home about with respect to quality.
You can fix that. In fact, you can fix it so well that your modified S-Video connection will outperform component video using RCA jacks. The only connection that will remain slightly superior to your modified S-Video is component connections using BNC connectors on both ends. BNCs are better for high-frequency video signals (and digital-audio signals) than the RCA connectors used in most consumer products. The difference is significant enough to be visible in a video system of any reasonable quality.
The S-Video fix involves replacing your S-Video connectors with BNC connectors. You will be left with two separate wires using two BNC connector sets rather than using the single S-Video connector to make both connections (with what appears to be a single cable)."

I fail to see how an S-Video connection could ever outperform a component connection 😕 , with S-Video you do not have progressive scan, therefor it could never even hope to outperform component. Component connections also support much higher resolutions and have three seperate cords for red, green, and blue. I just don't see how S-Video could ever look better then component, maybe I'm just dumb. 😛
I think the author is not comparing the progresive scan output to s-video. Progresive scan dvd player is not yet available ( my guess.) in the year 2000 when he wrote the article.
If he is right, then i may benefit from it since i use dvd player as source using composite output.
Not an easy task for me.

Upgrade my bottom fresnel with 0.2mm groove pitch and 200mm foca/l length.
The best adjustment made so far. Its like upgrading my 250w bulb to a higher wattage.
So if you are a new builder don't settle for 0.5mm groove pitch fresnel , use 0.2mm groove pitch fresnel if possible.
Currently looking 0.2mm groove pitch field fresnel and hoping for better result than what i have now. See more pics in my site.
