DIY progress report

Hello,

I have been anxiously waiting the arrival of the crossover, along with many of you, but I just thought of something. I'm going to integrate it into the same chassis as my main amplifier and preamp (its all in the same 22x22x6" killer looking tower style chassis, so plenty of room), but I have already exhausted the space set aside for the power supply and only +-40 and +-15 volt rails will be available. Does anybody have any guesses of what the crossover will optimally run on? I might end up building the crossover from ESP, which would use the 15 volt rail quite happily. Thanks!

You will be happy to know that Karen is just finishing the
artwork for the ZV5 boards, and they'll go out for test fab
in a couple days. After that, probably 3 weeks until
availability.

The drawings for metal for ZV6 just went out the door to
the machinist. That'll take 2 weeks there...

I haven't forgotten the Mosfet testing article - it simply got too
interesting to get short treatment. The last test gets performed
in the morning, and then the writing begins. You'll see it next
week, I promise. (icon for fingers x'd behind back)

Also still active is the text for Wayne's passive unit.

Nasty Nasty Man

Mr. Pass, you NASTY, NASTY, wonderful man!:devily:

First you give us that tantalizing hint in the Aleph-X thread that the ZV6 will be X-ed. My drooling was only controlled by the thought that it would still some time off in the far future.

But now you tell us that you've got metalwork for it coming back in two weeks!!! This isn't some future project in planning, you're well into having it built!😱

You torture me Nelson! You make this poor metallurgical engineer go back and re-learn all that awful electrical engineering stuff I forgot in the far, dark past. I can't decide which is worse: that you torture me so, or that you make me enjoy it so much!

I'm going home to :drink:  :faint:

Oh, and yeah! THANK YOU NELSON!!!

X-ed Zens are simple enough--just 'dumb down' the current sources on the Aleph-X to match the standard Zen current source. Granted, it's still a two stage amp at that point, but unravelling the front end isn't all that difficult if you want to insist on a single stage amp. Just remember that you need a connection between the two sides' Sources for it to be X.
Unless, of course, you want something a little extra.
Hmmm, let's see, put this here and that there and let's see what happens if we...

Nelson, we are all eagerly waiting and cheering for you team meanwhile. Thank you

Grey you seem to have something "up your sleeve" that you are hinting about but not yet revealing. This I think means that you are already listening (or at least have powered up on your worktable) some sort of incarnation of X-Zen....

Anyway it put me thinking but at least for me there is still not enough clues 🙁
