Hi, Im a pretty new to DIY speakers. I have just done a couple of kits before.
Now I want to make a "copy" of the Neat Iota Alpha speakers, I like the look of them and I read a lot of good reviews for such a small speaker.
I have been digging around on the net and found some info. I have the dimensions and the name of the woofer and mid drivers.
But Im struggling with the tweeters.
They use Peerless SDS-P830656 woofers and Peerless HDS-P830870 mid drivers.
The tweeter they use are listed as 50mm EMIT Planar Magnetic, but I cant find them on the internet.
These are very cheap drivers and I find it a bit strange that the price of the speakers from Neat are over 2000 $ here in Norway!
So, do anybody know where I can buy the tweeters they use, or can anybody give me some good advice when it comes to pairing the Peerless drivers with a matching (
ribbon) tweeter?
The Neat speakers are 2.5 way speakers and I will add some pixs here.
I will prob need some help if possible with the X-over, but I did read that they are crossed over at 4k and 80 hz
Hope somebody can help me out here.

Welcome to the forum! I shall give your thread a bump.
I suspect the EMIT may be discontinued.
Monacor do a range of ribbon tweeters: https://www.monacor.com/products/components/speaker-technology/hi-fi-tweeters-/
This one can cross over >2.5 kHz (@12dB/octave), so satisfies your 4 kHz crossover requirement:
https://willys-hifi.com/collections...bt-1000-ribbon-tweeter?variant=43518010753279
Agree, visually looks like a monacor RBT95 with a new front section.
https://www.monacor.com/products/components/speaker-technology/hi-fi-tweeters-/rbt-95sr/
Also, if that is the only crossover then it looks like a first order electrical crossover on each the woofer/mid (just a coil) and a second order electrical plus lpad on the tweeter coil/capacitor/resistor.

Also, if that is the only crossover then it looks like a first order electrical crossover on each the woofer/mid (just a coil) and a second order electrical plus lpad on the tweeter coil/capacitor/resistor.
However, the RBT-95SR requires a higher crossover frequency (5 kHz, 12 dB/octave) than the RBT-1000.
Tweeter is a Monacor one, so it's noted in Stereophile review.
Thanks! A 2" Monacor planar-magnetic tweeter indeed!
The Stereophile review quotes the tweeter crossover to be 5 kHz in the specifications section.
However, the measurement section says it appears to be set at 2.75 kHz rather than the specified 5kHz, and this appears to be substantiated by the impedance plot.

This one is a rather interesting looking product and a good opportunity for a cloning experiment. I am not so sure should the tweeter be left sideways, but I guess it can't be helped if one is to keep its appeal, and the lower woofer should definitely be an sds 6.5".
I will prob need some help if possible with the X-over
If I can add to what Ugg10 has previously indicated:
It's a simple enough parallel 2.5 way crossover with a large value inductor in series with the woofer and a smaller value inductor in series with the midrange.
The HF section consists of a series capacitor, parallel inductor 2nd order electrical circuit. A two resistor L pad follows for tweeter attenuation.
The difficulty lies in determining the values of these components and that's where someone with crossover design software might offer help.
Here's some speakers with Peerless 830870, etc (Similar Peerless 4" - check the graphs, specs, 830855, 830854, 830872, 830822, 830881, etc)

from the review-
https://www.stereophile.com/content/neat-acoustics-iota-alpha-loudspeaker
"the Alpha's top section is sealed, thus changing the character, especially in the bass. So we have a sealed two-way speaker with restricted low-frequency output augmented by a low-bass section. It differs from an Iota with a conventional subwoofer in having been voiced and tuned as a complete entity."

If you can't find the planer tweeter. * Not an exact clone.
You could build the cabinet with the divided top section with the Pure Vida or other (post#9). Bass cabinet with 830656 & a low pass crossover.

thanks a lot guys, a bunch of good information here 🙂 Im going to order the drivers now and I hope I can start the build just after x-mas.
Im into these "designer" speakers, and want to build a few different ones. The Iotas I like for their small size but still apparently good sound.
The others are more vintage speakers. I really like when the speakers can be placed on the floor next to a long sleek media furniture, but not not the high tower speakers. As close to the height of the furniture as possible.
I really like these M&K audio speakers , but they are very hard to find any info about. Also it looks like a 2 way with a 8 or 10" woofer, and its tricky to find those for a 2 way system.
I also LOVE the design of the Braun L2 speakers (from 1958!), and I can find some info on them but they are much harder to build, at least the tubing stands.

I listened to these speakers at a HIFI-shop, and they did cast a large soundstage for their size reminding me of the very short time i listened to a pair of Carlsson OA-52 in the eighties.
