thanks for the offer Doug, I may just take you up on that. Depending on when it will be, there's a fair chance I can arrange to have a vehicle then as well. Sorry for mispelling Sherburne as well

The misspelling of Shelburne to your spelling happens a lot. I dunno why. Even the media does it when they are reporting the blinding snow and white out conditions here on TV (alleged) news.

I just heard on the jazz FM station as I type this that we are supposed to get wet flurries tomorrow morning. SNOW is a four letter word to me. 🙁

rcavictim,

The Jordans are in stretched version of Jim Griffin's ported design.

On my desk as computer speakers. Driven with an AKSA55 amp.

So you listen to them nearfield. I'd like to hear those as I am looking for affordable full-range drivers. Too bad they aren't more efficient.

Those speakers look easy to bring to a DIY show'n'tell. My avatar beasts weigh ~350 lbs. each so I won't be travelling anywhere often with those.

I too would enjoy to see other diythings, especially bigger-than-gainclone power amps. And I'm curious about diy video projectors, has anyone built one that they'd be willing to show us?
If I attend I would be pleased to show the kxproject dsp crossover to anyone who is interested in learning about it - I probably still won't have built any passive crossovers by time the event arrives 😉

bz,

When you suggested showing your computer based crossover I had a vision. I'm not sure on the date but at a NAB convention in the very late 50's there was a quiet display set up in an off the beaten path hotel room of the show where it's inhabitants were showing off the world's very first electronic Time Base Corrector for videotape application in network broadcasting. They quickly became the center of attention and stole the show. At that time this technology introduced a paradigm shift in commercial television.

I'm thinking that your DSP project probably deserves it's own room too, away from the noise and distractions of an audio event for your idea to be better understood in the fleeting moments of a show where the attendees have a lot of stuff to soak in and less than optimal time to do it in.

This talk of an Ontario meet is starting to sound like a major audio show. My interest at this point in time is to have small, casual get-togethers with a few DIY devices in my and other members homes in the Toronto area to get to know new friends and contacts and see what others are doing in DIY. No rented hotel ballrooms. Three, maybe four attendees tops.

If someone wants to organize a large 'show' I'll do my best to attend, but health problems prevent me from being able to help organize such an undertaking.

I don't mind other things being shown, but personally I am mainly really interested in hearing DIY speakers. As long as there is a dedicated setup for that purpose, I will be there. Cap tests, cable tests, etc hold little interest for me, and it should be pointed out that a common problem with these things is trying to do too many things in one day. In numerous reports on other DIY meets I've read it has been mentioned that they ran out of time, did not get to hear everything, etc.

I personally am much more interested in hearing some of these different design philosophies and designs than in having a few beers and shooting the breeze with fellow speaker builders, no offence intended. IMHO we can chat here just fine, but listening and comparisons can only be done in person. Just my $0.02.
