DIY ACA mini

Hi all, first time posting. Wanted to add my experience as one of the lucky winners (Thank You!). This was a very fun and simple project. The only issue I ran into was self inflicted, I failed to read the instructions for biasing properly. Was measuring VB to ground instead of across the pads (DOH!). Went back and re-read the instructions, set the bias, and now have a wonderful sounding little amp.

Cool case
Mine will most probably be a simple bottom plate being a round 8” marble cheese plater with some rubber feet. The weight will provide stability.

My kit showed up today, one day earlier than the tracker said it would!

I cleared my bench and ran through the build in a couple of hours. It’s getting late here on the East Coast, so I’ll bias it in the morning.

Thanks again to Nelson Pass, and everyone who ran and coordinated Burning Amp 2021!

can we run it without preamp?

Hello,

since this cute amp could land in the kitchen, it will most likely won't see any preamp, but will be directly plugged in a radio or computer/ipod.
With the SE-ACA amp wise guys said that there could be interferance with the feedback network and a buffer was highly advised.
How is it with the mini ACA?

tnx,
stefan

That old record player......is the "round thing with holes" integrated with the "pick-up"...which looks like a "nail"..... "the speaker"?

It is a mechanical amplifier?
Very CO2 friendly?

Usually there is a horn attached to amplify the sound a bit?
Is it possible to get an electrical signal out from the pickup?
