It might aswell possibly be a good match for the loudspeaker with Pioneer drivers Papa intends to launch next summer... so that ACA mini could become the corner stone of quite a few products developed here 🙂
Sadly I don't know the details on this LS, such as efficiency and also low frequency response (with and without the active bass boost board), but based on some guess work it could be:
- mostly 8R... but in the higher frequency range when the tweeter joins the party (?)
- perhaps 91dB/m/W, so perhaps still just Ok with 5W... from ACa mini
- hopefully Fc at -3dB can be below or equal to 40Hz
What I don't know is how good such a large band Pioneer driver could possibly sound. I must say I am a bit sceptical. Probably not on a par with my VFET amp which is likely to deserve better LS (??)... But I am though tempted because I like the idea of a closed box for the bass response and the active boost which can possibly give it a reasonable low frequency response. And also the Xover less LS (or nearly so) while being nearly a point source for most of the frequency range... hmmm... quite a nice one and lucky US folks to give it a try!
Just thinking out loud
Enjoy music with all these fascinating Papa gifts

Wow, a 5-watt F5 amp with tweeter dc protection?
If I choose the right input and output cap values, could I have a 12dB/oct high pass filter in this amp for direct tweeter drive?

Build 2 x ACA mini's then put them inside of the DIY speaker enclosures
one amp in the Left and another amp in the Right channel.
Bass reflex speakers for better air circulation..
Save chassis cost and space in the room

Woah, they even threw in the switching supply. That's a pretty great prize!!
Yep, great prize. I can stop shipping for a power supply.
My kit arrived in the mail today. I’m very excited to build this with my son. Thanks to Tom, Nelson, Jason, 6L6 (and anyone I may be forgetting) for making this possible and easy to assemble!
That's good news, but, errr... where do you guys get it from, I can't find it in the store?
Sorry for the very dumb question, must be very tired this morning, as ever LOL!

Mr. Pass very generously donated these kits to some lucky winners durning Burning Amp 2021 some weeks ago. It is my understanding that the store will carry this kit at some point.
Ah, thanks, got it!
I thought only one winner and saw several posts, my wrong understanding.
Sooo... congrats to you all the winners!
Enjoy that new ACA and time permitting please let us know your findings 🙂

Any idea when the boards will be avaliable ? I was also wondering if there would be anything wrong in using a pair of lateral mosfets.
No problem with laterals.
And the store will have boards/semis after a bit, and likely a more complete
kit after that.

Is ACA mini also has output 5w as first ACA amp ??5 Watt's that perfect for little system with neodymium compression drivers ~110 dB sensitivity and horns 😀

Having 2 matched pair of 170/74 jfets why should I build an ACA mini instead of a F5?
maybe a low bias version of F5 to save money on the heat sinks
Yes I know single rail SMPS is cheaper then dual linear PSU....

Granted I have not yet heard the Mini, but the biggest advantage I see is it’s small stature and lack of chassis. One of my favorite builds has been the ACP+ and that’s in large part due to no chassis, metal work, etc. I love being able to see the circuit out on display, and it’s always a good conversation starter with visitors. That it sounds fantastic doesn’t hurt either 🙂
