I am a total beginner with terminal so is there any you could give me something to copy to input into terminal, I will change to ip address of server.
Sorry but I am learning, but slowly.
So first:
Code:
squeezelite -l
Code:
squeezelite -o 'default' -s ADDRESS-OF-YOUR-SERVER -n laptop -z
[Once it is running, the web page should show "laptop" as one of the two choices in the pull-down menu in the upper right corner - select that, and select something to play.]
Got nearly as far as that. Is the web page, Daphile in browser. Upper right corner has no pull down menu.

Is the web page you opened the address of the server with :9000 at the end? What do you have in the upper right corner?
I access Daphile with 999.999.0.122
You need the LMS interface, it is at port 9000, so you need
Code:
http://xxx.xxx.0.122:9000
Thats brilliant, LMS but I only get the audio device connected to the main server, an m-dac. The laptop is not shown.

You should not see audio interfaces / DACs on the LMS page, just complete streaming clients (in this case your laptop and server). Check that squezelite is running:
Code:
ps ax | grep squeeze
ps ax | grep squeeze
5597 ? SLsl 1:07 squeezelite -o default -s ADDRESS-OF-YOUR-SERVER -n laptop -z
19914 pts/2 S+ 0:00 grep squeeze
5597 ? SLsl 1:07 squeezelite -o default -s ADDRESS-OF-YOUR-SERVER -n laptop -z
19914 pts/2 S+ 0:00 grep squeeze
ps ax | grep squeeze
5597 ? SLsl 1:07 squeezelite -o default -s ADDRESS-OF-YOUR-SERVER -n laptop -z
19914 pts/2 S+ 0:00 grep squeeze
Is that the actual string "ADDRESS-OF-YOUR-SERVER", or the IP address (or domain name) of your server?
At this rate I will be listening soon.Exactly the stuff one wants to do when listening music 🙂

Hopefully only needs to happen once... 🙂
Yes exactly like that from terminal.
OK, that's the problem. First kill the old squeezelite with:
Code:
killall squeezelite

We both know... computer audio is a never ending story 🙂

Not to any greater extent than non-computer audio - if you are happy with what you have, it runs nice and smooth, if you want to fiddle and tweak, there is always something... 🙂
Well, I am flabbergasted every time that guys bring computers that need one hour to setup. One would think things eventually run smoothly.
julf that is brilliant total control from laptop and playing from laptop. You are brilliant, thank you very much for your patience.OK, that's the problem. First kill the old squeezelite with:, then restart but replace ADDRESS-OF-YOUR-SERVER with the actual address.Code:killall squeezelite
I am learning too, I love Daphile even more now.
All the best thyristor44

My raspberry pis take about 5 minutes to set up, and then just run.
