No one have perfect room..
But, that will be problem with live music in that room, too.. nobody thinking in that way.. if someone sings in my room I can't use correction.. so, if correction is used for recordings of same singer that will sound wrong..
You speak about common sense? If someone sings in your room under the influence of the room acoustics that will sound wrong!! You must correct for the influence of the room to hear the real sound of the singer. And in order to reproduce the recordings of the singer, it will also sound wrong because of the room influence if you don't make corrections. So, in both cases, you will have to correct because of the room influence! That is common sense😉
About BruteFIR.. is there any other option and practical value except room correction..
About room correction.. no one want to use some common sense.. very simple example, someone sings in my room, without amplification.. if I want to reproduce that sound accurately in same room, I need speakers with flat frequency response and small distorsion.. room correction is useless, and only could make problems..

Not as long as you define "common sense" as "whatever my opinion happens to be".
You seem to have ignored the posting from siginitz.very simple example, someone sings in my room, without amplification.. if I want to reproduce that sound accurately in same room, I need speakers with flat frequency response and small distorsion.. room correction is useless, and only could make problems..
Your room interacts with the voice of someone who sings in your room. If you record that sound, you have a recording of that voice *in that space*. If you then replay that recording, you get a recording of that voice recorded in that space, played in that space - with the room contribution added twice. So you can not get what you want - unless you remove the room from the equation.
Only if I put microfon in listening spot..
The room will affect the sound even if you put the microphone in the hallway...
BTW, any good program to have the BruteFUR?The room will affect the sound even if you put the microphone in the hallway...
I wish one day there is an utility built into Daphile!🙂
Depends from the choice microphone..The room will affect the sound even if you put the microphone in the hallway...
Definitely we disagree about room correction benefit..
My question was is there any other practical use for BruteFIR..
Only if I put microfon in listening spot..
Why you don't believe in what Julf posted you? Wherever you place your microphone in the room you will have interaction with the room boundaries. As a result you will have more or less dips, cancellation or big peaking in the frequency range from 30-400 Hz in dependence of your room dimensions. This also will happen with your perfectly linear response of your speakers. You can treat the room physically, and this can be very expensive, or use a DRC system like Brutefir for Linux or Acourate ( among others) for windows for correcting the room effects by digital means.
That Daphile now has this option is a big step towards audiophile reproduction!🙂🙂

You will need a PC DRC software for making the filters needed by BruteFir. I can recommend Acourate Pro (google Audiovero). It is a windows software. It is not a free software, but in my opinion it is the most advanced software in the area or room treatment software.
You could also try REW which is free

From the instructions on the Daphile site (Daphile ? Digital Music Convenience for Audiophiles)
Usually I find it easiest to just delete all partitions, from the target drive using a third party application, then allow Daphile to set up by itself.
You want a drive that is "unallocated" ie not formatted or partitioned. (you appear to be trying to install on a formatted drive, that is the problem.)
Note that all data will be lost from the target drive! (you cannot dual boot, Daphile uses the whole drive)
Then restart Daphile and when you select the drive to install to it will be recognised and useable...🙂
hi,
spent a couple of hours on this yesterday.... driving me nuts.
trying to update one of my players os (early version) that can't be updated via web interface. so starting from scratch and loading latest version onto usb stick I am getting the "read only file system" and can't save any setting changes.
I am working in a windows 7 environment. I tried deleting the partitions using window disc management. but then the stick isn't even recognited to load the OS. kinda catch 22.
any ideas how I can either get this old version of daphile to update without starting from scratch.... or how to get the latest version "read only file system" to go away? again I am using windows 7. also I know how to use putty to do line editing, if any options there
thk you
Might be easier to record the iso image to a cd, then during bootup, the install process will ask if you want to format any of the drives it finds.
Can also do the same with two usb sticks.
One has the Bootable image or live image and the other usb stick is the install disk.

Sorry i am not following.
i am able to get the iso inage on my stick using win32diskimager. this is the stick that'll boot up but ends up being read only.
how do i get this to another stick and wont it be read only too?
(not trying to be smart, cause i am not at this stuff).
thks

The flash drive you are create is possibly not persistent ?? so not able to be written to... ( I don't know Windows well, or the disc-imager it uses.)
However, from the Daphile instructions...
2. Create boot media
a) Preferred: Install to USB Flash-drive using Unetbootin (available for Windows,
Linux and OS X at UNetbootin - Homepage and Downloads). This way you can use
Daphile from a USB drive without installing it to a hard drive.
or
b) Burn the ISO-file to a CD/DVD
or
c) If you have an empty USB flash in Linux you write hybrid-ISO to USB drive
(/dev/sdx): dd if=isofile of=/dev/sdx oflag=direct bs=1048576
IIRC Using Unetbootin there is an option for persistence and therefore the flashdrive can be written to....
Deleting partitions related to another instance where someone was trying to install to a HD and that needs to be unformatted.
vdi_nenna's comment is correct where one usb stick is the read only image and when you choose install have it write to the other usb stick and unpack.

thk you!
When I try the Dell laptop with Audioengine D1 it has high pitch which never has high pitch before!😕Have tried the newest version 201604, everything is working except the preview has no sound!

Where can we go to see a feature list for each new update?
