Daphile - Audiophile Music Server & Player OS

Very strange..
Full instalation of 64-bit version crashed this morning, worked for months without trouble..
64-bit version on USB says media server has crashed, on two computers..
32-bit USB version works..
???

Did you add any new hardware? If so remove it.

Probably related to your hardward. Do you have a cd-rom player? Disconnected as much hardware as possible but keep enough to bring up Daphile server. For example, try 1 ram module at a time if you have more than one module. Also boot up with out any other storage attached, only cd-rom or USB flash drive.

"I have connected my smartphone ( Samsung Note 3) in USB to access to its music files but Daphile does not recognize it"

Has this worked before? Daphile may not have the drivers for your storage hardware.

I wonder if you could share your phones music library and have daphile connection to it like a NAS?

Thierry,

In settings, advanced server settings, advanced tab, select network in the drop down on the top left.
At the bottom you'll see upnp. Maybe you can find an app for your phone so it acts like a upnp server.
Daphile server with act as a client. I haven't tried this, its just a thought.

I use Fujitsu Siemens Futro S500 with 2GB RAM and 2GB CF memory card, 64-bit full Daphile installation..
Media server just stoped this morning, without any hardware change, in the middle of song.. before that plays without glitch about half year or longer..
First I thought that computer is broken.. than I try USB installation on Fujitsu, after that on Lenovo laptop, always with same message, media server has crashed.. 64-bit version..
After that I try 32-bit version and it works, first live from USB, after that full installation.. I can not see any logical explanation..

Intel NUC HDMI audio?

I am enjoying Daphile. Thank you for creating this. My hardware is a USB key plugged into a re-purposed JRMC "ID", Intel NUC DN2820FYKH. Outputs to my receiver of 1)Analog and 2)USB to DAC work fine. HDMI has no sound, although the receiver HDMI offers sound over HDMI and the NUC is supposed to feature this. Is anyone else getting sound via an HDMI output? I cannot tell if this is a problem with the Intel NUC or Daphile.

I think its hardware related but when a system is crashing it's hard to troubleshoot...from here. 🙂 Leads me to believe an intermittent hardware problem. I don't think it's the os.

Maybe a bad network card or wifi adaptor?

Well keep and eye on it and if it crashes more frequently, look for failing hardware. Start by testing ram. Bad ram will make a system crash fast including while trying to install the daphile os.

Good luck!

Put differently, the drivers on the 64-bit OS version is not working well with your hardware and the 32-bit version does work. Why now? I don't know. I don't know enough about the OS itself.

If more people were complaining of crashing, maybe you could point to the OS, but no one else has come forth. You've said you haven't changed anything in the OS, so what's left? Electronics sometimes fail over time.

Have you looked at the server logs for errors while it's running on 64-bit? It's under Information on left panel.

Do you run wireless or wired network with your Daphile server?

I had a problem with Daphile last Friday week, as did the people across the street who have an almost identical system which I set up for them. The problem was Daphile not seeing the NAS; we both have FreeNAS as the music store, as well as the controller app not finding Daphile. That this happened at the same time in different houses with similar setups initially defied my understanding. Apart from a power supply failure the day before, the other possibility seemed to be Daphile itself, as a FreeNAS update had been applied over a week before.

From my investigations, I believe (without much real evidence as the problem seems to have resolved), that Daphile was set to automatically update plugins. I think an update may be the culprit. I have since turned off automatic updates.

As I say, I have no real hard evidence, so it is more a matter of eliminating possibilities.

I found an error on my system tonight. Don't know if its related. See attached screenshot.
My system defaulted to a previous image. Odd.😕

Was able to restart it with the latest firmware. Odd.

What is actually "crashing"? The kernel (printing kernel oops), the gui application, or what?
On a system which is installed I get a message 'loading media server',
without possibility to access or change any settings..
When I try new installation from USB after booting message was 'media server has crashed'.. on two different computers..
That was on sunday, yesterday and today everything works perfectly, with same hardware..
Can it be some mistake in the home network, or application in background had some hiden-broken updates..
