Daphile - Audiophile Music Server & Player OS

I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I can't get Spotify or Tidal to show up under "My Apps". You Tube is there, but isn't working...

Tidal could be that I haven't got a paid account, I guess, but Spotify is a paid premium account, so that should work.

Any suggestions what I'm missing?

I signed up to Tidal for my free month and have it working well. Would still like to get the CD Player to work.

You might want to try the latest beta version (see FAQ).
There have been some problems with mysqueezebox.com service and there are now some fixes in the beta versions.

For those who are interested in system configurations I have just built a new Daphile player based on modern components with excellent results. Key components are a gigabyte ga-b150n-phoenix wifi itx mobo; intel skylake g4400 dual core pentium cpu @ 3.3Ghz; thermaltake element q case (includes 220w sfx psu); noctua NH-L9i cpu cooler; 8gb Kingston DDR4 2333Mhz RAM (in a single stick to better fit the case); Intel 128gb m.2 ssd (mounted on the underside of the mobo, I am using 128GB in case I ever want to load Windows); pioneer dvd drive (I can rip CDs but still to determine how to play CDs); 4TB Seagate internal HDD for local music storage (yet to be used).

The mobo includes a realtek alc892 codec which with Daphile I can enable DSD64 upsampling in realtime with exceptional results.

The playback is excellent. The CPU temperature (T1?) is 37c; T2 is 36c.
System load with DSD upsampling is 1.08; 0.91; 0.48.
Music is sourced from the network.

The case has a free full height PCI-e slot that can be used to add alternative soundcards or audio usb cards (eg. paul pang).

Note the Themaltake Element Q is is an old case (2010) which was initially designed for use with ATOM CPUs. However, with the advent of low power Skylake I can get excellent performance without issues with heating (and noise). It is not much bigger than a shoe box with a lot more flexibility than a NUC.

Hi there,

Can't activate the option native DSD in the Daphile settings. I have a ROTEL RC1590 (AKM DAC). Native DSD is supported on this device according to the specs. Activate the DOP option is possible and works. Native DSD is hidden.

Who can help me?

Thanks.

DSD is supported. JRiver works to DSD128 native and DOP.
The rear panel USB on the ROTEL RC1590 accepts both DSD and DOP audio in 1x and 2x modes.

JRiver plays really DSD or DSD over cap. Can read it on the display of the Rotel but I want to use daphile Player.

Working fine with AQ Dragonfly 1.2

I could not find any posts on the net indicating success with daphile and the Audioquest Dragonfly 1.2. Happy to report it is working fine up to 24/96 native with no configuration trickery required, all I did was disable the on-board audio to prevent it from being selected as an option.

I am using daphile 16.05 x86-64 on an old HP DC7900 Ultra Slim desktop with a Core2 Duo at 3.0GHz, 4GB RAM, and a 240GB Sandisk SSD. Network connection is through the wired gigabit ethernet port. My music library resides on a FreeNAS CIFS share and it was trivial to get connected. Took a couple hours to import a huge collection, but after that no hiccups and everything sounds great.

😀

No plugins?

I have installed Daphile on an Intel nuc. Everything is running well...but...

I would like to use tidal and as far as I know this should work via a squeezbox plugin. So I created a squeezbox account and installed tidal there.

If I now enter my squeezbox login in the Daphile prefs the my apps tab disapears from the audio player tab.

What i have noticed: i have enabled local ui and there I have the apps including of Tidal

Any idea?

Thx and greets

Christian

Hello Kipeta,

I have a futro s550-2 and daphile works well on it. The futro has a realtek ALC262 as audio chip. From the datasheet, I know that ALC262 has a SPDIF output but daphile does not allow to use it (it is showing only the analog output in the settings menu). Do you think that this is solvable?
Thank you.

Sorry for not answering back vdi_senna, Triplefun and Kipeta, but I got a bit frustrated with the player and also had my speakers overhauled last week, so I let go of everything for a while...

I can rip CDs, and play the ripped files, but can't play anythig else. I appreciate your efforts and will try your suggestions during the weekend. I'll keep you posted on how it goes...

Have you tried the steps taken by chriss0212 above. I have a squeezebox account on my home PC which is synched with daphile. Changes I make to the home system (eg adding tidal) are replicated to the daphile squeeze instance.

Does the machine have the actual SPDIF output taken from the HDA chip? I do not see it.

I Was thinking that, if enabled by the software, spdif out was showing on the audio out (some laptops have this feature).

Look at the ALC262 diagram and pin assignment in the datasheet - the spdif output uses a separate pin (43)

Do you mean that if spdif is not wired out of the alc 262, then it does not show up in the daphile settings?

Intel HDA is a rather complicated and complex beast. Look at On Debugging Intel High Definition Audio in Linux and the Beats Audio Conspiracy Part I for introductory info. It is quite configurable (if the hardware enables the functionality - not the case of your SPDIF output). However, I doubt this low-level HDA configuration is enabled by the GUI of Daphile. The low-level HDA configuration is difficult even in full-blown linux distributions.
