Daphile - Audiophile Music Server & Player OS

Ah, a nice, unbiased test by two people with no skin in the game 🙂

I agree with the writer. "The distribution medium is irrelevant. The RECORDING medium is the battle we should be fighting. And it is a much smaller and easier battle to fight, and one that just MIGHT be won."
Has been won already. The recording medium is hard disk. Mostly with delta-sigma converters, but if it is a DSD converter, the result is usually converted to PCM ("DXD") for processing, as DSD can not be processed in native format. The result is then converted to DSD if DSD distribution is desired...

Hello, has anyone had any success running daphile as an hyper-v vm? I am trying to and am having issues with the network interface. I am using legacy NIC drivers and the native drivers do not work. However, it appears whenever I reboot, I need to shutdown the vm, uninstall the NIC and reinstall before I get the "Ready. Use the Web interface..." message.

Anyone else experiencing the same issue? Any know workaround?

Thank you.

Is there any purpose or progress to change output settings..

If so, what specifically edit and why..

I decided to try Daphile with a goal to have audio player connected to my HT system. Main target was to get multichannel FLAC files played through HDMI to AV processor. I used Asus Chromebox hardware with custom BIOS. Unfortunately I didn't get any audio output via HDMI. Even boot picture only was seen when I connected Chromebox directly to Samsung TV. When it was connected to AV processor, video was absent too. Daphile software runs correctly and I could get stereo music played via analog output from Chromebox. Unfortunately without shell access and basic tools in Daphile image it is not possible to do even basic troubleshooting.

A couple of weeks I came accross Daphile (I was already using LMS through the standard interface for years for my Squeezebox Duet and Touch and also used SqueezePlug and PiCorePlayer on my Raspberry-Pi). I used it first on my regular PC (running off a 8GB USB-stick) and I liked it a lot !!
Yesterday I bought an ASUS Vivo Mini NU42 (Celeron 2957U/4GBmem/32GBstorage - sold for 250 Euros in The Netherlands) to be used as dedicated audio server and plugged in my USB-stick and to my surprise Daphile started without any problem* !! I can stream to my SB Touch but also use my direct attached USB-DAC. Great audio application !! I am a happy man ... 🙂

(*: before I was able to run Daphile I needed to change some settings in the UEFI, since this box is sold with Windows 8.1 with Bing installed. Therefore I needed to switch the security settings and choose the USB-Stick to boot from)

I confirm the PERFECT synergy of daphile with the fabulous Audio-gd Reference 5.32 dac. Everything worked flawlessly from the beginning with top-notch sound. Only missing is the reproduction of DSD files, which currently is impossible as the dac does not support DoP.
Problem with YouTube plugin still remains. 🙁
