OK, I followed the instructions from another thread. You are right.

The output measures fine, but when the chipamp modules are connected, the tranny buzzes like crazy and gets hot within 15 seconds.

Is it worth the effort trying to get this thing to work or should I just get a non CT transformer?

Use what you have, just remove some of the diodes and rewire according to the corrected picture here:

I "personally" would instead make it true dual mono and just get a second transformer like you have. One pwr supply for each channel for complete isolation.

thought about that, but a second transformer won't fit in the casing.

Hi,
or buy a 300VA of double the voltage you need.
Split the windings exactly in half and retape.
Now you have a 4secondary toroid, two windings go to each amplifier PSU.
