Hmm Right and Left is wrong ? The Left side off the PCB is marked Right and the Right side is marked Left.

The PCB marking is correct.
The IV on the left side (RIGHT marking, DAC frontplate facing us) should have a Red RCA connector, while IV on the right side (LEFT marking) should have a Black connector.
Use a needle to dig out and swap the RCA's rubber color rings if you have soldered the wrong color connectors.

But that is stupid. If you use mono blocs the cables have to cross each other. Come into the battle.

Hi Quanghao, I mean I have two amanero USB module. One with IC supply removed, one is not. and problem remain the same whether the IC supply is removed or not.

Anyway, I PM Domenico from Amanero about the problem and here is his suggestions:

"Hello, in Audirvana there is a delay option is it enabled?
If you are using a DAC with automute it's possible that 0.5s is the time the DAC needs to remove the automute. If you use a sabre dac chip there is the possibility to make the automute exit faster.

Cheers,
domenico"

So firmware update for the DAC to shorten the automute in 9018, etc?

Cheers Herbert

Yes, I have found these 2 registers:

#8 Atomute level
#9 Automote time > default 4 sec=2096896/(4 * DATA_CLK)
I can try to ingrease this value to get less time

persons with still opened problems

This is the list, please add your problem:

1) Erlend Sæterdal
problem: lcd does not work
solution: the lcd controller module will be replaced

2) masterkey, bertchai, smoothquark
problem: no work with usb input
solution: masterley have sent to me the DAC module and Amanero module to make a test, the other persons can have the same problem so please wait my test

3) Someone - can confirm solved ?
problem: spdif does not work with some non standard sources
solution: try to eliminate the 75ohm and add a capacitor after the input transformer.

4) MattMax - tested ?
probem: tweeters of my loudspeakers emit a hissing sound when the DAC is on mute
solution: see point 2, apply #1586 and add a caps to filter high freq. on DAC output

5) smoothquark - are you using the standby firmware ?

6) Erlend Sæterdal
problem: More than 11 mv offset with OPA 1612
solution: have you tested different op-amp ? have you apply the mod. #1586 ?

7) bertchai
problem: using Mac 0.5s at the beginning of the song is missing/silent
solution: I will try to change the automute delay, are you able to update the firmware ?

8) Some
problem: lcd wrong characters
solution: change the flat cable or solder the wires

9) Many
problem: firmware update
solution: the best method is to use the Pickit2 available on Ebay shop and Amazon, there are some cheaper clone

10) Many
problem: little oscillation on power supply shunt
solution: follow post #1586 and #1626

please add your problem

Yes, I am using standby firmware. It does not work properly! I cannot standby when power is on.

I have now flashed latest firmware on Amanero. No difference in:

1. Ubuntu
2. My own kernel (confirmed to be UAC2 compliant)
3. Windows with JRiver

Either something is really wrong with my amanero (unlikely since the players I use all think that they are playing to it) or something not quite right with the DAC / controller. Coax from CD player is very soft as well. Not been able to test optical and AES.

ok, i will sent to you other Amanero USB, please sent back to me USB wrong!

thanks
quanghao

probably there is a common problem on some modules using usb input
so please wait my test on masterkey module, I will test it very soon

smoothquark, the relay switch-on but no switch-off ?

The relay switches on but does not switch off. For the amanero, I have tried with jumper on and off. With jumper on there are sometimes strange characters on display. I sometimes get a lock but no sound at all. I think communication with the es9018 is not working properly. If I can somehow test the amanero that would help. Audiodesign - can I send you my amanero to test? If yes, please pm me with your address. Thanks.

Which firmware are you using on controller ?

To check the version push the center button during the startup phase.

As soon as I power on from the power switch, I can just barely see the startup on the display (LED is off) and then goes blank until I press the power button on the remote and bring it out of standby. If I press the centre button when I power on from the switch, everything remains blank and the power button on the remote does not work. Managed to try with a torch - version .56c.

One other thing... I can play my DSD sample and now hear it!! There was some distortion but I could make out the music! It was as soft as the SPDIF that I tried earlier, so I presume that is the maximum output from the DAC. I cannot play and hear any PCM samples. Checking my alsa output, the software thinks that it is playing /proc/asound/Amanero/stream0 shows the correct sample rate everytime, so I presume the stream is getting to the Amanero OK. I wonder if the amanero or controller is muting and not unmuting PCM but doing so for DSD? I don't think this worked before I updated the firmware on the amanero.

Not sure why the sound is distorted with DSD - shall check settings on mpd.

Unfortunately, now even DSD does not work! Really confused about what is going on! There is no lock anymore on the USB input  Trying turning dac on and off as well as plugging and unplugging the USB cable. This is what happened previously before updating the firmware on the amanero. Amanero still recognised by the computer though.

Now DSD works again! Plugged the USB cable in and out a few times and turned the power on and off a few times . I do suspect it is the controller that is at fault. Quanghao - is it possible for you to send me another controller (a standard one with cable) ? I can still use mine to power up the DAC as the power is wired up to the relay on the controller. If my unplug my current controller and plug in the one you send, I can confirm if it is the controller that is at fault. Shall order a programmer as well in case my firmware needs updating.
