DAC AD1862: Almost THT, I2S input, NOS, R-2R

🤣

Guru's syndrom,

You have all the free info everywhere to make it as good if not better, from the discrete reference, to the opas, not saying the parts !

What is still missing : a good pcb layout not etched at home, cause there are a lot of things you can not do at home for the pcb. Not saying the whole layout of a DAC. Repeat : a "DAC is not a Tube amp...." (understand you have a DAC load before). I still want to know the digital front end and clock in between the long wires everywhere !

If it i so good : sold it and make it benchmarked, in spite of changing two parts in a well know shematic and makes such punchlines as if secret-sauce was caviar !

First we will master the regular regulator, later the advanced one. If you still want the advanced one, then we will do it via private messages because the scheme has protected parts.
As you want, I wanted to make an effort for everyone in the thread. So I can accommodate it, and later we will talk about the other one.
But now at the moment I'd do better the advanced version of ad811 I/v, on the other thread...

Regardless of the protected part of the scheme is not simple anymore and considering the presence of high voltage I would like to avoid possible problems with the construction at least for the beginning.
I also found a picture of the measurements in my DAC with an output voltage of 255V.

@Michelag, if not already done, you can download Saturn pcb toolkit. Have some option to calculate spacing, isolation, heat management... as you work with higher voltage here. There is an interresting paper by Roberto Armani in the Elektor of nov/dec 2024 about routing and safety (for the people as well as the circuitry life)

Here is measurements for ClarityCap CMR 8.2uF 400Vdc. It measures better than any other capacitor I have, especially 16mOhm at 100kHz. It's interesting that its capacitance goes up at 100kHz - maybe a glitch of the tool or a resonance inside the cap? The next best cap is https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/75-MKP1848S61050JP2C at 60mOhm. I am not sure if it correlates to sound, just found it interesting.

please measure Henries and Ohms also at 120/1k/10k 😱

of course, it is a DC link 😀
