DAC AD1862: Almost THT, I2S input, NOS, R-2R

I have used both Sanyo and Panasonic.
For these DACs I used ELNA Silmic (analog part) and Nichicon (digital part and PSU2) while it was available here locally. I still have a certain amount of it for AD1862 (DAC board and PSU2) and I'm done. 😎

Is the physical fit onto the DAC board without shift registers preserved with the newest JLsounds version?

Any chance you compared 'PCM1704' direct without registers with I2S and shift registers?
I wish to update that the new JLsounds board will physically fit the AD1862 board designed for it to sit on, just like the older JLsounds board. Inserted with ease, matched. @Sorenm , @Vunce ,@Brijac

I still have PCM1702 in that plastic box, somehow it worked out nicely over time and sounds better. Those who use Elna Silmic say that they require a lot of work time to play it properly. That's probably what it's all about. Maybe now I should go back to PCM63, and there's Elna Silmic too, not worked out yet. 🤔

And AD1862 are waiting for me to find some time for them. 🙄

Elnas are a pain to listen on signal path, for the first ~100h, sounds like a cliche number, but it is true. No bass, sounds muffled, closed. Crazy. Then sunshine breaks out, and you enjoy probably the best available elco on signal path. But on decouple, i cannot comment. Too much factors to single it out.

Each cirsuitry needs its own tests, so no definitive ratting about a particular cap. This is just I never had sucess with the Elna Silmic II but in serie -++- to mimic a bipolar for DC blocking and high pass filter in the 90s when i was tweaking old Philips and Marantz CD players. The browner Silmic that are darker but less detailled sounded better to me and were used a lot by Sony IIRC.

I made a rapid test with the AD1862 and few caps but mainly tried a dozen of different I/V resistors in this thread. The difference was significative. It was with an opa1656.

I replaced that Elna caps first in a Marantz CD63 as soon as the warranty ran out. By the way, I also kicked the HDAM module out of the game. That is heavy nonsense. Instead of the original JRC OPAs, OPA2604AQ came here. I put different plastic caps in parallel, replacing Elna Silmic (2pcs back to back) at the output. Just yesterday I replaced that Laser mechanism again, these Chinese VAM1201/2 usually works well, but for a short time. 🤣

It is now an outdated device, but I listened to music quite a bit with it. Then came DDDAC1794 and Pioneer DV300 (modified) as CD transport. The Marantz is listened to occasionally, mostly as a CD transport.

The Silmic's have sounded rather strange to me, as a means of "voicing" not to my taste. Some of the Black Gates have worked well, though take a long time to burn/settle in. Currently I am working on an I/V for a PCM63 based DAC that is using a 1n2 Russian teflon in the feedback, hence the question.
