Nice to know I wasn't far out then, albeit underestimating the depth of the baffle at driver height.

OK, 1st draft plans are ready for early adopters... need to do some tidying and add some construction aids for the release version
Mail me if you want them.

that is one of the missing pieces... all these xmas get togethers gettin' in the way of work 🙂

Scottmoose said:Enjoy. 🙂 Well earned at that. Personally, I intend to sleep my way through Christmas, with occasional breaks for eating, like my friend here:
Shucks, I thought you were going to come up with a neat little hedgehog.

Well we ended up gettin; some work done toniye after all. After dinner Chris and i listened to the µFonken for the 1st time, and fired up the brand new KingRex amp. Stunning. Will need a woofer and a good XO to do more than modest levels, but just stunning (we did have a proto of a sealed SDX7 woofer, but the woofer needs EnABL and the plate amp was not really adequate.
... and cute too.
Did i say we were a bit stunned with the µFonken/KingRex combo?

No.Where?
😀

p.s. Any pics available? 😉
Cheers John, et all, nice to be back, having a few teathing problems with the service, but belive I'm almost there with e-mail, years of having IT people at work has insulated me from the nitty gritty of PC setup so I.m on a steep learnig curve (hair pulling out sessions
)
I'll sort out my e-mail address asap Dave, as I'm interested in what a KimChi Chang possibly with a subwoofer would be like, plus I can then get rid of the bulky Fstex BLH.
Good news is I'll probably be employed again in the new year so I can relax and enjoy Christmas, though unfortenatly I wont be able to sleep through it (I envy you Scott), as a lot of the kids pressys are going to involve Dad for setting up etc 😀 so I'll be playing with toys for a couple of days.
Happy Christmas everyone

You too Marc. Glad the employment situation is sorting itself out (I know the feeling, believe me).

Chris has the set with the drivers, i've got 2 pair of drivers on the bench. The milliFonkens have an extra layer on the bottom that won't be required in a regular build.
With everyone's feedback on the MJK baffle, i'm thinking that this little Fostex would be good in that project.

Thanx... Chris' handi-work, Chris tells a tale of not enuff F-clamps and a µFonken hidden in a mass of bar-clamps.
A couple cardboard mockups helped me get the proportions right.
I'd really like to compare these little Fostex to some of the big buck dome tweeters...

KimChi
I am really thinking of building KimChi.
I have got a question about the baffle. Why ist it set 2 inches back? are ther no bad reflections from the sides, if the baffle is not plain to the front?

No. It's there the integrate the output from both mouths, making a balanced wavefront, and to provide front-horn loading (yes, it's a compound horn).
Hi all,
Is there a performance advantage to having a curved front ?
Quite curious, I've got in some ply and was going to start on the Chili Chang to replace my giant BIBs in the next few weeks.
Is the KimChi a more advanced version of the Chili ? What differences would I expect to hear ? Is there a design goal beyond the visual ?
Thanks for that,
Sedge.
(I had a look through the thread but there really isn't a sonic comparison discussion)

Yep, focus delivery, etc, (a friend who listened commented that the timing was incredable) add EnABL and its an interesting combination.
Tis Christmas Day in Scarborough land and the Changs are singing,
The music drowns the carol squawkers door bell ringing.
Woops tis 2 o clock and aint the tinitus.
Its the police come to arrest us!
A marce christmas carol😀
