Just looking at,
The tracks from space..I think they should make some crop circle shapes and write a message some thing like "don't call us well call you"..
Or please dont walk on the grass...😀

I suspect the 'fields' in the last photo are solar cells on the lander itself. The eye sees what the brain wants to see.
OK, this is right, thanks for inform.I suspect the 'fields' in the last photo are solar cells on the lander itself. The eye sees what the brain wants to see.
I was just looking at this image..
NASA’s Mars Rover Opportunity scales new heights | Astronomy Now
The reason I posted is because after looking at the picture for a while, I get these feelings..The Earth is getting overcrowded and as if the opportunity is just waiting for us to make a move. (OK not a one way move) however just look at the picture. When are you coming? Its here come and get it! a bit like the siren's and the sailors. Just look a whole planet just waiting for you..I don't think we have a choice.
To feed the greed look at all the real estate...think of the money to be made..just think if there were resources just ripe for the picking.. a bit sad isn't it..I wonder what would happen if they found gold...😀 Perhaps it needs greed to fuel the transition.
Just think people with vision could leave earth and live in peace watching the earth fight it out..and then put up a big sign..YOU HAVE NO CHANCE COMING HERE>>>STAY THERE AND DIE! << LMAO I guess we are asking for it really.
Are we looking at the ARK in space?
Lets add some scifi for fun..then the people of mars (Earth colony 1) sent a germ weapon to earth and wiped out the humans ..no animals were effected
After 10 years the new race returned to the home planet and peace was restored..The people of Earth did not know that this had been planned for decades and the weaponry was transported with them as the colony was set up.
Next question who is getting there first? Remember Quatermass and the pit..

I remember in Quatermass the comment we are becoming the Martians,
They planned it and set it up while man was living in the caves and mud huts..
The people of Mars are our fiends ...aren't they?
LOL we can't even live between countries..perhaps we are the Martians?
War of the worlds..us Vs us..
Again just for fun..😀
If you want to take it a step further..mankind sent more and more robot vehicles to mars using AI to control the craft..it seemed like a good idea to let the machines colonise mars for us but something went wrong..
Again its interesting scifi..but it still is us Vs us..

Earth land surface area is roughly 2 * 1014 m2. Population is about 7 * 109. So that's about 30,000 sq m each for every man, woman, and child.
Overcrowded?
Or is this just another one of those dorm-room-and-bong-profound-revelation threads?

The only way significant numbers of humans will end up on Mars is to be born there...the energy and financial costs of moving a human to Mars make this a non-starter for more than a few dozens.
Quatermass and the pit...
A very good SciFi story in it's original BBC serial teleplay, BTW. One of the key elements (which is underemphasized in the Movie version) is the addressing of why it is that humans are so prone to being violently hostile to those who differ, even slightly, from the norm. Including, our lust for waging organized war over those differences.

Well the FAQ places the cost per person at $1.5 billion USD for the 1st four and $1 billion USD thereafter. So if we were to use the entire US GDP for a year we can move roughly 16,000 people while another 70 million people are added to the global population. As a way to have the human race "spread out" it's a non-starter!

So do you think after the selected people get to Mars, five years later there will be eight bodies mummified in the Martian soil?
Or the start of a colony of people with there own government, or people linked to the Earth government?
I must admit being dropped in the middle of a desert on Earth and left without help is daunting enough..but being dropped on a plant with no chance of escape on your own is hard to imagine. It takes the loneliness stakes up to the top of the list. Just imagine for a moment being dropped on Mars then left to fend for yourself..I wonder where despair takes over?
(hopefully not after the first 5 minutes of looking around)
So would Mars become independent? (Yes its a long time)

Mars is so inhospitable to our biology that it makes the worst desert on Earth or Antarctica seem welcoming and nurturing by comparison. The surface air pressure is roughly equivalent to Earth's at 100,000' (30 km) altitude, oh and there's that detail regarding the missing oxygen. I think we have a lot to learn in continued space exploration, with manned missions being of the least value by far on a return on investment basis. Based on the current state of our technology, on the low likelihood of an isolated band of outworlders peacefully coexisting, and of the vanishingly low probability of our reach ever going beyond the boundaries of the solar system I just don't see the point. Oh and I would think anyone who is ready to commit to a one way trip to Mars should probably be mentally screened out on that basis.
Are you on hallucinogenic drugs Full Range Man? Those photos show noting except damaged pixels, normal shaped rocks etc etc.

I haven't done the dorm-room thing in a long while, but I'm game (for the discussion, if nothing else).Earth land surface area is roughly 2 * 1014 m2. Population is about 7 * 109. So that's about 30,000 sq m each for every man, woman, and child.

If you're worried about overcrowding, populating Mars will only delay the problem. There's a good argument, however, for humanity not having all its eggs in one basket when the next dinosaur-killer meteor comes along.
Humanity is like any species and grows exponentially until resources run out. One idea is to keep new resources available, so we'll use asteroids to make O'Neil colonies (in orbits around Earth, the Moon, the Sun, Mars, Venus, wherever else is interesting) as well as populating Mars, with the population in outer space eventually exceeding that on Earth. There will be little trash thrown out, because all matter will be valuable in space and be recycled.
Don't bogart that Intelsat, my friend...
And that's surely too small for a viable genetic population (see the dinosaur-killer thing), but I think we should try - if not Mars then LEO or somewhere. The only way significant numbers of humans will end up on Mars is to be born there...the energy and financial costs of moving a human to Mars make this a non-starter for more than a few dozens.

You need to subtract at least all deserts (33% of landmass) and mountain ranges (20%) from that equation. Plus areas of forests (another 30%) which are not suitable for agriculture but necessary for life's well being on this planet.
Of your 30 000 m^2 only 17% (5 100m^2) are left for human endeavours like living and growing food. Probably a little more as I expect some overlap between mountains and forests.
And that's surely too small for a viable genetic population (see the dinosaur-killer thing), but I think we should try - if not Mars then LEO or somewhere.
I think this whole "...let's go populate Mars" (or an LEO) is mostly a (bong) smoke and mirrors distraction, but the evidence suggests that all 7 billion of us share one common female ancestor with a total genetic starting point of a relatively small non-diverse hunter gatherer band. So a few dozens selected for diverse genes may well do it...but that isn't really the tough nut to crack here.
