Thanks Russ, those look real good. I should really learn how to do the acid etching process one of these days...
Aha Russ... I have never looked at the 78XX/79XX series 🙂
And what a waste of good copper? 🙂 couln't you have fitted 12 pieces (3x4) if you had turned them all aroung 90 degrees 😀
Cheers m8

Russ, these headers:
What pitch are the pins at? Will these ones suit?

Michael

JP2 PINHD-1X2 1X02 pinhead 1

No, those headers won't fit.
You need .1" pitch.
These should work
headers
Polarized headers would be better, and you can get them here, and they to ship to you. 😀

They have very good prices on just about everything you will need.

Also Michael, the pin headers are only necessary if you want to use connectors on your wires. If not, just omit the headers and solder the wires right the board at the pads for the headers.
You probably already knew that, but just thought I would throw it out there for the others working on these.
Cheers!

Thanks Russ,
The headers seem like a neat idea if they don't cost too much, or degrade the quality of the connection.
Got my Mauro case parts ordered today, managed to find a reasonable-priced lasercut shop to cut the aluminium for me.

Well, I would say its certainly worth a try. 🙂 One more thing to add to the to do list. 🙂 Thanks Tobias.
By the way, for those who I have promised boards, they have been etched, and are simply awaiting the drill (he he he).
If I can't get them out Saturday morning they will go out Monday for sure. It ended up I etched 36 boards!!! Yikes!!! Some for friends here in town. Thats a lot of drilling.

Russ
It's not absolutely necessary that you drill my boards, I can do that myself. Voila, that's already less work for you😀

Interst in group buy?
If I get enough email from people stating interest to purchase either the FreeBird or the YardBird I will get some nice PCBs professionally made. I don't think they would cost more than $7 or $8. And I could actually do kits or partial kits(no opamp).
So if you would like to see that go forward, then please email me.
Cheers!

Update:
To those who I am sending boards, they are nearly complete. I got about 90% of the drilling done, just a few more to go.
I even drilled your's GeWa, as I consider yours a birthday present, and you shouldn't have to drill your own birthday present. 😀
they will all be in the mail tomorrow morning. 🙂
Cheers!

Great!
With a bit of luck, all the components will turn up by the time they arrive here.
I've got a lot of irons in the fire over here. I think my BrianGT kit should arrive first, I already have the Mauro board, but it's waiting for parts, and these... I've got one job left on my ebay Musical Fidelity power amp, it's running sweetly now.

DcibeL said:I was just going to ask why there is different sized capacitors on each side of the power supply, but I will await your modified PSU.
Just for reference on the Low ESR caps, Mouser has the closest thing with the Xicon caps. However it takes a very long time for shipping from mouser for me, plus the addition of customs fees, so I will be using Panasonic "low impedance" capacitors from Digi-key. They have a slightly higher series resistance rating than the Xicons, but I think they will do okay.
Hey Dcibel, Do you need some 47uf low ESR caps?
