Super simple at the moment, a BMS 5CN162, sealed, 5L pyramid enclosure. Under couch subs are a pair of SB23MFCL45-4 in about 30L sealed. Six of SuziJ's 50W amplifier modules running on +/-24V and a Minidsp Flex-8/DL round out the system. It sounds fantastic at the moment, but I have two MEHs in the design phase that just happen to be exactly the same size 😀 A casual observer would never notice the speakers coming and going.

Exactly! That is why the "weekend" sound system should exist - some ugly no-compromise macho 12-15-18-21... inch woofer boxes with so much ridiculous gear with no less ridiculous launch sequence for weekends and special occasions and another that is transparent, ergonomic and simple for every day. Key word is "usability"

Why not consider a design that is designed to be used next to the wall, like described in Roy Allison's paper? Takes up less space, and less likely to be knocked over.

I went for a set of Gurus that the wife doesn't dislike too much, I guess the reason is the color, so picking a nice color to finish can go a long way. To the previous point, I got interested in the Gurus as they are designed to sit close to the wall, or in my case in an actual bookcase, which besides better sound also also adds to the WAF 🙂
@cowanaudio - I like the floating console/cabinet. Did you design it? I have thought about a wall mounted cabinet like that, but I have been fearful of som heavy guy leaning on it and popping it loose... what attachment mechanism did you use, and what kind of weight limit would make you feel uncomfortable?

This is important. Most people who are non-audio-enthusiasts will view audio equipment and speakers as a kind of appliance. They may not like the look of it, but they can tolerate it if it has a color/finish that matches the decor of the room. No one looks at a microwave oven and says "wow that is beautiful", but we tolerate them in our kitchens if they have the right color/finish to blend in. Same should be true of speakers.

Well, I did show a picture first, and perhaps as important also some pictures of speakers that we're a lot less decor-friendly, to improve my chances of acceptance 🙂
