I am now more than happy with my Charlize but being a greedy human I want MORE!
I have other speakers that like a little more "uumph" and the Charlize is a standout in my stable.
Yeo, I want a "high power" Charlize, ~ 50W per channel. What sayest thou?
Any plans?
Andrew

UcD180 😉 or go for a biamped setup.
I added a second $30 smps to my setup (2 Charlizes bi-amping a pair of simple two-way speakers). Adding a second power supply added a noticeable relaxation to the sound .... less strain, greater clarity, all in all a worthy upgrade.
Makes me reiterate that these amps are silly good.

Passive filters? Or active?
They're passively filtered ... single capacitor to the tweeter and a single inductor to the woofer. I want to actively filter, which I could pull off with a linear phase crossover setup in my computer or with a DEQX unit, but both options are expensive. Alternatively, I could passively filter the inputs of the Charlizes. Active filtering would offer the benefit of high crossover slopes.

Yeah, but it doesn't sound like you need it, if you are getting by with 1st order x-overs now. The passive filter in front of the amp might be fun to try. Wonder how it would sound?
Any one listening to vinyl?
Hi,
Is anyone on the group listening to vinyl through Charlize?
Can anyone help me with some advice with respect to a phono stage that could match charlize? My budget is less than 300U$. DIY is an option.
Thanks for your comments, Juan

Hi,
I listen to Vinyl with Carlize and really like what I get. I use the phono section of a vintage preamp (Electrocompaniet). A tube phono stage would be a good choice.
Best regards,

I'm still finalizing the parts list for my final enclosure design for the Charlize.
I've been searching for a good attenuator and found this
http://www.hificollective.co.uk/components/potentiometers.html
I'll probably order the Vishay Dale ladder attenuator. I remember you guys recommending a 25k but the site only offers 10k, 50k, 100k 250k. Which would be better, a 10k or a 50k?
Also what about where should it be placed, inbetween dac and preamp, or between preamp and charlize for best quality? (I'm still deciding whether to get a preamp now cause I probably won't be using it for phono until maybe later, or any dedicated high quality dac. Basically Charlize will be fed from a cd player, mp3 player or computer sound card so I thought to put the attenuator with the Charlize in the same enclosure.)

A bit of research at Decibel Dungeon would have found you
this option which offers quite a saving over the HiFiCollective attenuator (and the option of 25K)!

Thanks, but I have checked that attenuator also. If you account for the fact that I'm not going to assemble the attenuator, and add 25 AUD for preassembled than they become similarly priced. In addition, it looks like a shunt as opposed to ladder type design. It says ladder but it has less resistors so I believed it to be a shunt. I am using this site as a reference on the design. Correct me if I am wrong.

OK but you still don't have your choice of 25K! 😉

It is a ladder design - the resistors are stacked so it looks as if there is only half the number!

Hmm correction to myself. I was looking at the price where it said 45 Pounds, I thought it was 45 Euros so when I was checking the conversion it was much cheaper. And if it is ladder, than I see no reason to pay more. Hmm looks like the diyfidelity is the overall winner!

Had one of these in 25K given to me and works extremely well with a LM4780.

That price is A$ should work out well in US$.

I was contemplating this one...http://digitalanaloguediy.com/attenuator.html. I used a 100k with a charlize before and it sounded just fine.

I use it with my Charlize and I can report that it work very well. It is hard to beat it for that kind of money

There RCA jack are very good too. I wish I had ordered a set of RCA plugs.
