Thanks for your comments Damir - hopefully the practical result will be as good as simulation suggests!

Doesn't the slew rate of an amp double when it is strapped/bridged/balanced? Why would a push pull balanced config cancel even harmonics? We want a config that cancels 3,5,7th. Thanks, GRH
Its pretty hard, IMO, to get those odds reduced by nfb in simple complimentary/bal circuits ... thus cancellation techniques and very close matching is needed with those circuit forms.
Some of the 'stability' and other 'tuning' methods are actually cancellation by phase shifting to get the better nfb cancellation (not all, but many). Esp for the higher freqs.
Some of these CFA (and VFA) circuits shown in SIM form appear to do an excellent job of reducing all harmonics.... which is why measuring a built circuit is needed - preceeded by MontiCarlo analysis of various parameters and values is needed.
With balanced bridged, there are real world 'dynamic' changes which affect the PSupply, CMR and SR and others... so maybe it should get some treatment to see if that configuartion has real benefits or advantages or not for audio.... the pro-con analysis.

Can you show a drawing/schematic of your balanced fb?

This is my idea, fully balanced, and bridged. The only backward is that is accept balanced input only.

OK. yes, that is a popular useful configuration.

Of course. I think, that it's very good, and gives nice CMRR in practice.
Marantz use this in the MA9 as well.

Isnt it a VFA though?

The MA9s1 has the first stage VFA, and the second is cfa, the s2 has both stages cfa.

I don't understand, what that means?

This Marantz amplifier has 2 stages. The first has a gain about 8 and the second has a gain about 4.
There are 2 version exist: MA9series1, and MA9series2. The first stage is vfa and the second is cfa in series1 and both are cfa in series2.

First stage with voltage feedback and second stage with current feedback???

Yes. Please note that the first stage means a complete amplifier, with input stage+VAS+output follower.

My memory is not as good as few years ago...
The first stage has a gain about 14, and the second is approx. 2.

One of the best amplifiers I have heard was one of the Sumo's and then the company was gone! Liked the Sumo much better than the Parasound I had after that for demo purposes.
ps. The Parasound was not one of the John Curl designated models.

These are mine Flickr Search: sumo (and I love them 🙂)
I first saw the SAE stuff in about 1975/6. Beautifully made for the time and the Sumo a few years later was also quite solid. He was quite a character.
I am 100 % with him on the tone controls BTW. All this anti tone control crap gets my goat to be frank.

Thanks Bonsai,
I didn't know that he was with SAE. I still have an old SAE tuner that was one of the best tuners I have heard besides an old McIntosh tube tuner I still have. I am with you on tone controls, enough of the audiophile thinking that you should never adjust the sound from what is on a disk or vinyl. Sound level changes everything and the only way to correct for our hearing is some kind of tone control.

Scott, Why don't you design us a power amp? GRH
I'd have to come out from behind the curtain. 😀

I am familiar with Sumo circuit. I am asking about this because it will get many others to explore it further and find some gems in there to apply. Esp the SIM'ed pro-con of bridged needs more light of day on it. There are so many talented and motivated people here that we can all learn something new, perhaps, from one another working together.
We here are not the average consumer. Fortunately, there are recordings that are very well done. Not the majority of them but enough. Its the music I listen to all day that makes me want to build better gear. Its still about the music for me, first and foremost... the driving force behind everything I do in audio.

.... maybe after you retire, you will be able to share more of your lifetimes work in the application to better music reproduction/enjoyment. I hope so.... because not everything known is in books.
