Just to clarify, the speakers are in my kid's room. Didn't want anyone the think I had a fluorescent green living room!
I really like the zebra wood veneer, too. I used two coats of minwax polyurethane and it darkens up nicely. That being said the zebra wood doesn't photograph well. They look better in person.
The bass is spectacular for speakers of any size. I am also very happy with the Hiquphon tweeters. As I said before, the high freq resolution is amazing.
I do think that they are going to need some time to burn in though. I'll let you know in the summer. If you are thinking of building a pair of quality bookshelves, I'd recommend these. I've not heard better, at any price.
If you are going to build a pair. I strongly recommend going the PCB route with the crossovers. Drop me a note and I will send you a copy of the template that I came up with..
The veneer came out really nice. We're the rounded corners pretty easy? I guess curving along the grain works the best.
Love the finish! I'm using man-made zebra veneer and it has a slight pinkish hue to it. I'm trying options to get it to darken up like yours but haven't tried minwax yet.

as long as you go with the grain it is very easy.

I'm not familiar with man made veneer. But Danish oil can work well for darkening up the wood. Any more I just use spray lacquer for my finishes, I've been pretty happy.
Open Baffle
A little off topic, but I just built small open baffles with 3" tang band full range drivers that were taking up space on my work bench. Paired with a subwoofer dialed in at 150Hz, they actually sound pretty good. Still need to decide on the finish though.

Looking good!
Interesting use of the solid rods to connect the posts, what material is it? Is it as conductive as copper wire would be?
For anyone interested, I should have my own carreras finished by tomorrow, and will be posting a complete build log in the next few days, I'll put a link here.

Why not? I like it. Ed from the Horn shoppe has a all pink room and they call it Ed's pink room. Plus your speakers look great. Jeff

0.125" brass rod.
Would like a copy of the PCB template
Please do send a template for the Carrera crossover PCB. I’m intending to get a “build” going on the Carreras using the Dayton .5 CF Curved Cherry cabinets. My ordering skills far outpace my cabinet fabrication skills, so I will be doing more of an “assemble” than a “build”. Thanks for all the build notes, though, they do help me get acquainted with the project, even on my far more rudimentary level.
