Burning Amp 2025!!

@tonyEE

Sorry you won't be able to join us this year - always good to meet a character who HAS character! This is a month earlier than last year's announcement, though. Thanks to the organizers for giving us the extra lead time!

@bilsch
You can probably just show up - I don't think they sell out. However, if you want to do a build camp (and these do fill up), you need to buy a ticket to sign up. Watch this thread for further announcements!

Can someone give me a very general sense of the schedule? Mainly, should I just plan on all day Sat & Sun? If I am flying in, I'd plan to take at least another day (or two) to do some tourist stuff in the area. Would like to get a flight locked in sooner rather than later. Thanks!

I'm sure there's no official schedule at this point, but here's an idea: Saturday will be workshops in the morning and mingle in the afternoon. Sunday will feature some talks, more mingling, the raffle/give-away, then wrap-up.

If you're flying in, I suggest getting in Friday afternoon/evening so you can get the most out of the two days.

I expect to be there this year as well. It's always a good time.

Im going to try and make it this year.
Does anyone know of a local place i can park a my Toyota landcruiser and camp?
It kills me to pay money for a hotel room when i could be buying some sweet vintage output transformers or several hundred electrolytic capacitors with the same dough...

How would you get to Petaluma from Europe? Air to San Francisco, and then?
+1 for taking the shuttle. You can book the tickets ahead of time. The Groome website makes it look like you need reservations. Don't bother. I've never been able to figure out how to make a reservation anyway. There'll be plenty of room for you on the bus.

The shuttle stops at the Petaluma Fairgrounds and it's a ~10-minute walk to Best Western where quite a few of us have stayed in the past year.

If the Best Western gets booked, there's a Quality Inn up on N. McDowell... but that's a bit father up so you will need some means of getting there... They also have a free breakfast. ( I think the Best Western does too... but I didn't eat when I stayed there ). I've stayed in both places... the Best Western gets booked earlier.

Walking?

As a Southern Californian my advice is simple... How about just renting a car at SFO and driving up? Go through the Golden Gate Bridge on the 101/1. Might as well enjoy some of that drive. There are some spectacular views of SF and Alcatraz on the North Side of the bridge. On a clear day you can see all the way out to the East Bay.

From SFO just go N101-W380-N280 and keep on trucking.... it will put you through the city, but it's a reasonable straight drive all the way to the Presidio. We've done that drive a few times, and it's definitely entertaining. A lot more interesting that driving through Manhattan... much easier than the Santa Monica Fwy on a Friday evening rush hour. Like anywhere in North America... just avoid the Friday evening and Monday morning rush hours...

The Petaluma Community Center is sort of hard to spot from Mc Dowell street. Look for a park on the East side of the road... there will be some buildings about 300 yards behind a parking lot. The driveway to get in is on the South side of the park: if you're driving North and see the buildings then you've gone past the driveway, so you can make a U-turn or go around the block. Sightsee the place. NAVI is handy.

In Petaluma proper, the hotels and community center are all aligned on Mc Dowell St. There are lots of restaurants, gas stations, supermarkets, etc... all along a few mile strip. Did I note the beer? Pretty much all set.

It's a very nice place, Petaluma. That whole part of NorCal is very nice, very pleasant once you leave the Bay Area behind. I always recommend the drive up the coast to Grants Pass, OR - it's a nice two day drive. Santa Rosa up the 101 is also very nice... and there's the Mission San Rafael down South.

( Hmm, now I sound like the Auto Club Tourist Guide ).

I love my State. Love the geography, geology, history, mountains, desserts, coasts, trees, beer, wine, weather, its High End Audio companies.... ;-)

Have fun... enjoy it.

Sayonara.
