Burning Amp 2024!

I didn't say beer was the only thing I drink or that it was the only alcoholic drink I've had. I stick to it because I enjoy it. A bottle of wine is like a growler of beer. You have to finish it within a day or two or it'll go flat. While there've been times in my life where I did drink that much, I prefer to drink less these days.

I drank gin & tonic in high school. Good stuff. I still enjoy it. Though gin & lemon (gin with Schweppes Bitter Lemon) is even better.

I enjoy smooth scotch, but that's another of those gambles. Buy a bottle and maybe you get something good. Maybe you get forest fire in a bottle. Or maybe you get flux remover. You never quite know. And, frankly, I prefer the flux remover by MG Chemicals. It leaves less residue. 🙂

There! Now we're back to audio.

And getting back to the topic of Burning Amp 2024...

I received an email this morning from one of my vendors who's planning to go to BAF this year. He attended the last year at Fort Mason as well and enjoyed it. He's about to book airfare and is asking whether BAF is happening at all. I'm thinking his concern arises from the lack of official communication about tickets, event schedule, etc.

I told him about the new organizer (or organizing team?) of BAF and that the event is definitely happening.

I know there's a lot of work going on behind the scenes, but it may be worthwhile with a little drip-drip-drip of information every now and then to calm the nervous nellies. For some BAF is a few miles up the road. No big deal. For others it's a $2k weekend including airfare, hotel, etc. So there are various levels of nervousness out there.

Best purchase I've made in the past year was one of these:

The argon adds about $1 to the cost of a bottle, but then the bottle can last me 1-2 weeks and taste's like I just opened it every time I pour.

Back to audio: I'm looking forward to seeing everyone at Burning Amp! Without saying too much right now, I'll share that @tomchr and I are planing to collaborate on a setup.

I'm rushing to get the new speakers built in time. I'm working on a smaller open baffle speaker for this year. So far the prototypes are sounding solid!

I will also bring my artisan passive crossover prototyping boards.

I will also have a bunch of drivers to donate to the swap meet. I'll put a list together and share here.

Can't wait!

I regret to say that this has gone beyond nervousness.
I was considering the trip, which for me is a $2000 weekend. So far I have seen nothing other than a possible Zenductor project. As I leave for a different trip in less than a week, there is insufficient incentive to make the effort to attend BAF this year. I can make brewery and winery tours much easier here in WA state, if I were so inclined.

Don’t be nervous. Burning Amplifier 2024 is happening.

Ticket sales will open this weekend.

Amp Camp will happen for sure, Zenductor II to be introduced at the camp. (It’s awesome, and significantly different than last year’s project… it’s going to be wonderful)

To let everybody look under the tent flap for a min, the current holdup is Speaker Camp, we don't have solid pricing yet (but everything else is falling nicely into place) and may need to have a button for “I’m interested, contact me when we know for sure” button or something like that. We’re hoping to have everything figured out this week concerning Speaker Camp.

I have been looking at your amps.

I told my wife yesterday that next year I will pause getting more amps.
Next year. That still leaves time... 🙂

I built the amp for me to use and it is pretty special. Then again, I know a guy who designs some darn good amps and knows how to put them together, so I could be talked into parting with it if the price is right. The outside of the amp is as high-end as the inside.

We thank you for all the hard work you all are putting in!

If there's tasks you can delegate, I know many of us are eager to help in whatever way we can.
Yes, we’re counting on volunteers at the event. We’ll likely need a room monitor, front desk, and help for the various events, and more. If you are going to be there, just touch base with me or Jim. We’ll have more info in the coming days. I’ll put a list together with volunteer positions and who we have so far. Thanks!
