Well, I have seen people fooled between New Coke and Old Coke, also 7up, ginger ale, and cola (generic),
However, I guess, wine tasting is considered OK, even if it doesn't always follow an ABX profile. Yet, listening is not OK, under similar test conditions.
Also, people who believe in what they hear, and even make or sell products within the scope what they hear, are crooks, because they don't have the Lipshitz or Randi approved double blind test, certifying that there are audible differences.
You know, I should have dropped out of consumer audio design, 30 years ago, along with Tom Holman and Dave Speigel. However, did I clean up, staying with the crooks that I have worked with, including myself, worrying over minor details like what cap is used in the power supply, break-in, and other silly notions.
You know, I personally tested the ABX Speigel box, in my own home, 30 years ago, and found that I could not hear through it in an ABX test. On the East Coast of the USA, some audio reviewers, could not hear through the same ABX test box, and criticized it. Yet, Dr.Lipshitz seriously and devotedly defended that specific ABX test box, in print. Oh, the march of science! 'The Absolute Sound' Vol. 4, 16,1979 pp 410-411.
LTE signed by Dr. Stanley P. Lipshitz, John Vandercooy, Paul Young. (sounds serious to me) ;-)

Eh to me it's about money. I could buy another computer or 2 for the price.
I could buy my macbook pro 17" LOL!

Says who? Who has EVER said that ABX is the only acceptable DBT format? No-one. Except you.
Whether those very small refinements are worth the premium is entirely up to them.
That, I can agree with.

Computers have gotten cheaper. Cheaper than good wine, that's for sure.
2600$ for a macbook pro 17" not to cheap 🙂

I've had cognac that cost more, per bottle.
want a cookie ? WOW! You spent 3$k on a alcohol that goes in you and aprox a hour goes right out you, weird. Now that's a waste, you could have bought a speaker cable for that.
Don't prove it to me because -If you can't, who cares, I can and if you want proof you are welcome to visit. I'm 100% sure even you will hear the differences.
A.) I already know you can do no such thing, and
B.)I could only give you about a hundred bucks at the moment even if you could. I really think that if you feel so confident, you ought to contact The Randi Foundation. It should be a quick and easy million dollars for you. It costs nothing to do so, they will even come to your house.
Only the 'waste of time' portion of that statement is true.I wish burn-in of cables and equipment wasn't true because it is frustrating and a waste of time but unfortunately necessary if you want to do realistic comparative tests.
If testing doesn't occur objectively, the results are subjective. Only objective results could be taken as objective truth."... However, I guess, wine tasting is considered OK, even if it doesn't always follow an ABX profile.
And no one is preventing you or anyone else from spouting off about whatever belief you have here. They are however calling your statements bogus without proof, and the refusal to provide it.Yet, listening is not OK, under similar test conditions.
Dr. Lipshitz (Seriously? That's his name? Bummer for him!) would be wrong, if the box changed the signal in any way. If it did, testing couldn't be considered objective. I too read about such problems, I believe they were satisfactorily rectified years ago. Even if they weren't, the simple solution is not to use a box."... I had an engineer who worked for me comment that he couldn't understand why anyone would spend a lot of money on a fine dinner or a great bottle of wine. "It's just a transitory experience."
I pointed out, "So is sex."

No one has even demonstrated that. And frankly, I'm dubious.
In any case, you ought to become familiar with Professor Stanley Lipshitz and his frequent collaborator, Professor John Vanderkooy. Serious professionals who have done careful and rigorous work. They're the Antichrists to the woo-woo set.

I once had a friend tell me "I couldn't possibly enjoy a meal if I knew it was going to cost me more than $25". It takes all kinds.

How can you be so certain?

Well if based on an unrealistic certainty then as you say, "a waste of time."
Linkwitz & Riley, Thiele and Small, now Lipshitz and Vanderkooy. They always come in pairs. I'll look 'em up."...you ought to become familiar with Professor Stanley Lipshitz and his frequent collaborator, Professor John Vanderkooy. SY, I opened the unit, and both characterized and measured it. I also participated in a blind test where everyone, including me, could pick out the Spiegel contacts from just a straight wire bypass. Do I have to rub your nose in it? Maybe, just maybe, there was a problem with the Spiegel box.

Have no idea, I've never used a Spiegel box. Can you provide details on the blind test?
