I have calculated 27L for the mids in the Tl2, compared to 18L in the TL1. Same speaker, yet 9L difference? How can that be?
i have not look at those extra liter in the TL2 ,and yes funny, ( you can ask Troels G why)
the 18 liter is just ok to about 100hz,

Indeed strange.... I wonder if if it influences mid performance... Bjarne I just got BMS woofer... Holy ****!!!
i have tried the 10" in a bigger cabinet,, not bad , so maybe it is better,,
you just write to Troels ,,he is a nice man
yes the BMS is bigggg, and i really love them

I can't say I see the beauty in this... 🙁
I'd rather see the full box shape with a somewhat round bulging front grille like that Vox Basso.
Something that you can finish with a vintage grille cloth...
Even a segmented front could be enough to break the shape. It is quite hard to get rid of the refrigerator look.
Maybe use Pinterest for some inspiration?
Every time you click on something vaguely interesting you get more that just might be interesting 🙂.

Ho man... I'm also completely blocked. How to make a fridge preety?
A segmented front, like on the huge Tannoy Westminsters might help break up the shape...
Not exactly like that, but....
it needs something to break up the shape...
The division could also be horizontal, but breaking it up seems essential...
Nehh... I'm just dragging up all vintage models for inspiration, but it isn't it yet...
I do somewhat like that Westminster look though, it never fails to impress me with size...

Hi, i fear there is not much things you can do except follow Fibonacci suit in proportion and what Wesayso suggested.
I live with a ( downsized: 85cm h, 54 cm w, 45cm d) version of this type of loudspeaker for more than 25y and there is nothing to do: it looks ugly.
In a way it is compensated by the 'impressive' factor big loudspeakers have ( even more if they sound good) but that's all you can except.
I'm lucky my girlfriend like good sounding loudspeaker and she is very tolerant regarding size ( and they were present in my life before her) but i hit 'mechanical damage' not to long ago when i started stack smaller fridge and tumble dryier in the living room to give her an idea of what to expect for my next loudspeakers... She had a strange look in the eyes. 😀
Despite she was ok from the plan she had seen...once in real life..
Had to rethink form factor... it'll end up being a 'tower like'.

That's how I ended up with real high towers (lol).
I had 84 cm high, 46 cm wide and 33 cm deep speakers before that.
Those were small compared to "The Loudspeaker" 😀.
My current speakers fit on an A4 size paper 😉.
(well, aside from the 40x40x40 atmosphere creators parked beside it)

You know what? challenge accepted! I'll find a way to make it acceptable... imagine those Tannoy wesayso just posted sitting in your room... Damn! They wouldn't pass threw the door!

That's the spirit! 😀

My 'personal collection' on Pinterest of random Audio stuff I liked or otherwise have 'some connection' with...
Lots of old Altec and WE stuff. My next door neighbor had Altec Barcelona's that triggered my interest in those.
I even adjusted my tonal balance of the arrays after hearing those again. Lovely mid-range sound...
He eventually sold them and got some Kef's. I almost bought them as my "garage setup". The foam surrounds
on the woofers were rotted so I passed.

Don't get me wrong Noamgeller, for my own preference i have no issues with 300 or even 400liter boxes! In fact i even thoughts some P.A. sound systems ( old school, not line arrays) to be acceptable from an aesthetic point of view! As long as it sounds good ( to me) i think i can accept any compromise. In a way i'm a lost cause... 😀
For my girlfriend this is a different story! My kids don't care as long as i'm happy. 🙂
Tbh given your pictures reference i'm sure i will like what you'll end up with: you ve got the skills in woodwork and choice of the right kind of wood looks good to me.
And this is the kind of loudspeakers i like ( loads of membranne area in the low end, high efficiency and horn/wg loaded: it ticks almost all the box for me, so they'll looks good!) 😀

Sometimes deep bevels on the front can break up the “appliance” look. This is my latest design and I made a custom CNC shallow waveguide/bezel that helped make the tweeter more balanced looking as well as substantially improving its performance by expanding the bandwidth and lowering distortion.
For bass units, have you considered opposed bipole woofers side firing? That can change the frontal profile and make things look less boxy. KEF Blades comes to mind but doesn’t need to be so sail-shaped.

X, he's planning to build "The Loudspeaker" from Troels, I don't think the plan is to change the design completely. That would mean reworking all crossovers etc.
The idea is to make a cool looking refrigerator sized speaker. The skill set is there to do a marvelous job, the design part is challenging, as it is large, like: real large.

Extremely well summarised 😎

Thanks Krivium, appreciate it!

Thanks for the clarification. In that case you must adhere to baffle width and CTC spacing in drivers and axial setbacks. Even changing round overs may affect the XO. That is quite limiting from design perspective.
