Hi John,
I am sure that most diyaudio members are really grateful for all your posts. You are not obligated to reveal anything partly or fully to anyone on the forum. If someone feels otherwise, it's his or her problem not yours.
It's great having you around and reading your posts.
I've always found the best teachers are those that make one think rather than spoon feed everything ! That way we understand better and possibly come up with newer ideas. It takes longer but is more effective.
Wish you would write a book about the subject and release it at an appropriate time.
Wish you all success with your current projects.
Ashok.

Dimitri,
That is probably not any longer possible as the text was been changed and modified. Furthermore, the ideas and arguments are there, so don't be so naive to say that the words are in a different order.
Look at MY contribution on blind testing where I brought up the blind testing of classic coke vs new coke, where even the strongest supportes of the drive to get back classic coke because they thought new coke sucks, couldn't identify it in a blind test. In the 156 page compilation, that now is taken from me out of context and presented as something apparently supporting a different view. There are many such examples but I have no desire to read it all again and point out page, para and verse. And no, I WILL NOT get into a discussion on exactly who said what when. Anybody taken the time to read it can form his own opinion, and if not, so be it. But this stunt was enough for me to ask for my account at DIYHIFI to be terminated.
It it very disappointing, to say the least, to see that our contributions and arguments are hijacked in this way. If we can not have this basic respect for each other in this wide open internet community, then what do we have left. I though that YOU with the history of your nation behind you would be the last one to do something like this.
I really do not want to personally attack John Curl, and I am sorry that he is in the bind he is in, and if I had the money I would immediately commission the best amp he is able to make.
But this stunt with manipulating other peoples contributions and the way he behaves in these threads drags him down much, much more than a bad product would.
This is the last thing I will say about anything to do with JC, DIYHIFI and such. I have an amp to finish.
Have a great day,
Jan Didden
I am getting old and I don't want to die with whatever I have learned only within myself. Last night, I was talking to Dick Sequerra (who is about 76 years old or so) about this and he laughed. He doesn't mind dying with his knowledge not released to the public, but I confronted him about it, anyway. I actually told HIM to loosen up!
Don't talk like that 😡 it's like giving up on life. Life is precious. Many wants to live but don't have a chance.Well, I want to live out my last days helping people with audio.
You could do much more than that 😀 Write a book.
I'll buy one for sure. There is a missing link between books like DougSelf's and the real practice with soldering iron, when it comes to make good sounding gears.

A real BIG missing link !
This forum has "many" interpretations of the missing link !
Some even causing a few members to get at other members throats .
I might add : Never say die till you are dead ! But then we will never hear it as you would be on the other side of the "curtain".
Meantime you have enough time to write that book ?
I'll buy one too ! In fact I could even pay in advance !
😀

John,
Do you have something in mind to achieve this noble goal? Apart from posting here or perhaps write a book?

If he was serious about that the first thing to do would be to stop playing mind games and tease his peers on this website.
My thoughts align with Janneman's.
Poobah,
I'd love to see a kit by JC but we both know that ain't gonna happen.
Jan,
the text was not changed and modified and there was not a single word in there from other contributors: you, PMA or anybody else. Sorry that I’m hurting your self-esteem, and that I didn’t add your own opinions in the compilation, but this noise was of no interest for me. I believe that JC replies were all-sufficient, and the whole compilation was devoted to JC thoughts and only his. Thus I reject vigorously your unfounded accusation in hijacking.

I am sure that every reader who wants to get through former dicussions will have his own opinion in this case.
I have to agree with ashok on this one, Curl's responses - if perhaps not wrapped in the silk bows and flowers demanded of him by some - have been generally illuminating and valuable if missing in details he's quite likely not legally free to reveal (that nasty old IP thing again.) The response however has been in many respects embarrassing and something none here would stand to suffer long from others off-line. Hat's off to Curl for staying so long.
Besides money, a man needs somekind of "recognition" from others, especially in his daily very close community. He has to be good at something. Being an architect, being a doctor, being an audio designer, being a mafia, being a criminal, etc. In any field, he just need to be as close as #1, to get recognized by others. Then he could die with smiling face. Not getting this you will feel that your whole life has gone wrong path. Useless. Even if you got tons of money.
One of a clever way doing so is to write as much as possible. If nobody knows what you are capable of, how are you going to be even known (that you existed at all) by others?
God is fair. He give every single man something that he can be proud of 😀 Just need to realize it.

What a strange thread ! I've never thought Akira Kurosawa would ever be mentionned here. With Andrei Tarkowksi, he is one of my favorite film directors. Both made films with very deep human considerations.

OK, back to reality.
Jan thinks that I took some info from him on the issue of new coke vs old coke. Well almost exactly 27 hours ago, my sister called (woke) me up to ask me what soft drink I preferred. I said 'old coke', she said "What are you talking about?" I said 'Coke Classic'. Then she understood.
The story goes like this: Once, Coca Cola, losing out in some taste contests with Pepsi decided to change the formula to make it 'sweeter' or at least, less bitter.
They came out with 'New Coke' or whatever they called it, and many people didn't like it as much as what they made before.
Allegedly, someone (not me) spent a lot of money in a campaign to get the original formula back. Coca Cola then decided to create 'Coke Classic' as an alternative to 'New Coke'. However, double blind tests seemed to support that people either couldn't tell the difference between the two or else they preferred Pepsi. They even DB tested the guy who invested a lot of money in the campaign to get the 'old coke' back, and HE failed the DB test. Go figure! This is pretty much what I remember of the Coca Cola story. Long live OLD COKE, even if you have to go to China to get it right.

That wasn't quite the way it worked. People had no problems distinguishing old from new Coke (and either from Pepsi); in blind tasting, the preferences were clearly for New Coke. The problem came with the interpretation of the results. The marketing geniuses never considered the brand equity of old Coke, the attraction of the tradition, and the fallout from the realization that the old Coke would no longer be available. Bad, bad marketing decisions which cost a LOT of money.
Depends on time of day and what I'm eating. I just finished mowing the lawn, it's 30 degrees C, bright and sunny. I'm sweating. No beer in the house. So it's yummy Diet Mountain Dew from my wife's refrigerator.
