Blowtorch IP discussion

This sheds a little light on your motivation and openness, Mr. Curl. Thanks.

Unfortunately, you've decided to release your knowledge into community too large for a quick and steady progress. There's just too much noise evaporating from the huge amount of forum(s) members that participate in a discussions around you.

Without the required amount of theoretical background and practical experience, most of the forum members probably wouldn't appreciate what you could teach them.

Perhaps you should decide for an approach that progresses less abruptly - in order to tell what you have to say as comprehensively as possible. A discussion in a world like this obviously wastes a lot of time and effort, as you can tell from the noise (and distortion...). And only you know how much time you have for what you want to say.

Ever thought about an online community kind of guided discussion? Like: beginning at an earlier stage, making sure everybody who wants to advance has a certain amount of knowlege (or at least knows where to look 😉). Not everybody can read your book and papers and understand them. I'm not talking about making an EE out of everybody, just a little getting startet for the masses. 😉

Could move the DIY world!

Just my couple of cents,
Sebastian. 🙂

I'm sorry to read about your current situation and I must tell you that if you had levelled with us right from the start, I'm sure we would have found a way to make things easier for you. Basically, we are all decent guys here.

So, do you need our help?

Regards,
Milan

Hey,
who do you call a decent guy? Speak for yourself! 😉

It is sad and ironic that a guy like JC should live bill2bill but this is america what can I say? Keep on listening to the O'Reilly Factor make him money while you starve.
The funny thing is that the people benefitting the most from the blowtorch thread were the potential competitors smart enough to read between the lines and effectively use the info. Harmless diyers got nothing. Thanks.

John,

Foolish or otherwise, I would have to believe that you could achieve 99% of the Blowtorch sonic quality at about 5% the cost and about 3 hours assembly (not including cherry picking).

Why not a new design, no silly stuff, you KNOW what I'm talking about.

Put together a kit for DIY'ers... you certainly have their attention... and make some happy dollars.

There are plenty of people here that could help "roll" such an operation, don't know if the market is big enough. Someone is going to do it anyway; might as well be you. I could do some PCB's in a day or two.

If ditching the "silly stuff" means ruining your reputation; use a sock puppet and stage name.

And please don't reply that silly stuff is core to sonics... that IS hopeless. Hope you're not bound in no-compete clauses.

Edit: Call the new pre the LOW-BLOW.

Well Poobah, do it yourself, if you think it can be done. Please don't think that I know how to do it. My latest effort will retail for about $3000. It might be well close to the 95% that you are happy with. I am not giving away that schematic either.

I'm not interested... I have more than I can handle right now.

I am just talking about JC designed circuit with your folded cascode's and your blessing. The DIYer's would suck them up and wrap their own package around it. People would gladly pay a $100 for a board that would cost you $10.

And if my offer to throw some gerbs your way makes me a blowhard... well... that just blows chunks.

🙁

Hi John,
I'd like to say that not all DIY'ers didn't get anything from the thread. I understood a little, although I'm sure there is more that will make a light come on for me.

Best wishes on your new project, let's hope it's a success!

-Chris
