Bigbottle MM/MC Hybrid Valve Phonostage PCB

1A is what is needed in a 9-0-9 configuration (or 9.5), as the rectification is full wave centre tapped, NOT bridge, so the two 9V windings of the R26-90 need to be in series to make 9-0-9.

You need to connect them and check the voltage across the two outer wires. If it measures around zero then reverse ONE winding connections. If it measures 18V then this is correct.

Is there an off the shelve transformer I could order or it has to be custom made ?
also is there a schematic with voltage test points ?
There is no Schematic available for this project but if you have a sift back through the thread, there is a post with test points.

You'll need to get a traffo made up or do what Alan suggests over on the Bigbottle Builders thread...

Hi Oliver,

The reason I am asking is because I will be having a toroid custom wound for this project. Therefore my question. I really do not want extra components hanging off the edge or sticking up in the air, if at all possible. I can have the LV secondary wound to a higher VA still with the centre tap.

I would also like to order a second PCB, and delivery together with Bas' PCB to The Netherlands. I have corresponded directly with him, and he is happy to receive it for me. If there is an additional cost for the postage to The Netherlands, please let me know, and I will add it to the PCB cost. All going well I will be going over in September for my daughter's wedding and I will get it from him then. I want to try the 6DJ8 build as well, using a single external supply box.

Regards, Kevin
